Strikers was a big surprise for my hometown gaming clique. I got it for my birthday from one of them, and we've been playing it ever since. It's our current top game. For us in particular, Charged is a must-have game.
It looks pretty compelling. One of our group is really skeptical of Wii-style controls, but the relatively minimal use of it in this game might win him over.
"Drum Hero"? You mean like Donkey Konga and DK Jungle Beat for the Gamecube (they used drum controllers -- the former is a rhythm game, and the latter is a hybrid rhythm/platform game)?
The upcoming Wii drum game almost counts, but I think they're transforming it from a rhythm game into a racer. But Wii Music has a drumming mode - there are probably videos of it floating around online from last year's E3.
@8 (Wil) > Nunchuk doesn't have motion sensing, it has an accelerometer. > Basically it only detects sudden jerks.
As others have stated, the Nunchuk and Wii Remote have the same kind of motion sensing. The thing about an accelerometer is that it detects acceleration, so it is always feeling a tug of 9.8m/s^2 towards the center of the Earth (eg, "down"). So it knows which way it is oriented -- that is, it'd know the pitch and roll, but not the yaw (which is perpendicular to the direction of gravity). The Nunchuk has the same motion sensing abilities as both the Wii Remote and the SIXAXIS controller. Pointing is a separate capability that the Wii Remote alone offers, but it is not really related to motion sensing.
In outer space, many Wii games would be useless, most notably the driving games.
I'm pretty sure it's a House reference. And it's not a shot at him, even. The character is literally lame.
And, yeah, this game looks like a total TH ripoff. No complaints about that, though. I just won major brownie points with my girlfriend for telling her that there's a new game in the "Theme Hospital" genre. ^_^
Are you sure you're not just being taken in by the recharge time of Link's spin attack? I thought the responses were clumsy until I realized that after doing the nunchuck-waggling spin attack the first time, you have to wait until you hear a "shing" sound before you can do it again. With that in mind, it pretty much does everything I tell it to.
While it didn't directly sell, as it is a packin game, it's still good to note that Wii Sports reached the grubby hands of 436000 new customers.
Here's my interesting question: Wii Play is basically a pack-in for a controller in a way similar to how Wii Sports is a pack-in for a system. Since Wii Sports isn't counted by NPD, should Wii Play be?
