Star Fox 64 3D preview: Something old, something new

Jul 22nd 2011 5:19PM (Joystiq)
Seriously? No tanks or on-foot multiplayer? That was what made this game awesome to me - the ability to chase Arwings on foot and treads. Bullshit.

Amazon handing out $25 game credit with 3DS pre-order

Mar 24th 2011 10:39PM (Joystiq)
Loving all the discounts from Amazon lately.

Pre-ordered the 3DS on January 19th at a cost of $0 because I'd traded in a bunch of old DVDs. Paid $9.99 or so for 1 day shipping.

Later, chatted with Amazon to find out why they didn't offer release-date delivery (so this would deliver the day after.) They mentioned they did, but they got so many Pre-orders that they had to remove release-date delivery. I said, "that's strange. I ordered mine immediately when the SKU went live and never saw an option for RDD." They said, "hey, that blows! Your one-day shipping is now free!"

So total cost to have the 3DS on Tuesday instead of Sunday: $0

Next, when I discovered all these promo credits, I called to confirm the deals and found out the $25 will be applied after my 3DS ships. So I cancelled my order for SSFIV, Pilotwings, and Steel Diver ($133 with 1-day shipping, minus $35 in credit I still had, so $98 total), RE-ordered SSFIV and Pilotwings, then replaced Steel Diver with Okamiden. Total was now $77 with release date delivery...$21 dollars less than my previous order, even though Okamiden was $11 less than Steel Diver. Wait, what?

Then I realized that I was receiving a $10 credit from my Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars (X-Com whoop whoop!) order, which already shipped at $39.99. Plus, there's a new $10 promotional credit from the order I just placed, so combined with the $25 from the system itself, Steel Diver will cost all of $3.99 once I order it.

So total cost of system + 5 games = ~$122.

Echoing the previous sentiment - yup. I love Amazon.

Joyswag: Get stuck in Limbo [update: giveaway closed]

The scariest thing I've seen in the dark was a gremlin sitting on the banister of my bed, right about my head. He was looking out across my bedroom, and I knew if I moved, he'd look down, see me, and it'd all be over.

I was six years old. I still remember this dream. Scariest dream ever!

iPhone 4's yellow spot issue goes away with a bit of time?

Jun 24th 2010 2:30PM (Engadget)
Just got off the phone with Apple. They offered to have me ship the phone to them, leaving me without a phone (bad!) but suggested I might be able to get an advanced replacement - i.e., they ship a new phone to me, I ship my back after receiving it. Another option was, starting tomorrow, they would have phones at the Apple store to offer as replacements. I told her that the yellow appeared to be fading on my phone and so I'd wait until Monday to follow-up and decide whether it was still an issue at that point.

Those're my two bits.

Mononoke Hime is my favorite animated film ever. Period. And yes, I called it by its Japanese title, even though I prefer Miramax's English dub.

I would show it to the Prettiest Girl On The Train, who I've seen every morning for six months but have never talked to.

Yeah, I know.

Alright, joystiq. You've convinced me to buy it. Here I thought I'd be spending time with my family during my trip to visit them for Thanksgiving...maybe catching up on some reading at night. Nope. Just bought this.

I would shove my wedding ring in there and launch it straight into the eye socket of the guy my wife cheated on me with.

I've got movie posters covering my walls. Currently, there's The Incredibles, Wall-E, an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit print, Blade Runner, and The Dark Knight.
