Confessions of a Video-Game Designer

Nov 18th 2010 1:21AM (AOL Jobs)
For a laugh, read Chuck Jones' book "Chuck Amuck", about the days with Warner presidents offering their guidance on his projects. One boss saw animators flipping pages of drawings so he took some sheet music and flipped it before offering his approval.

Confessions of a Video-Game Designer

Susan, thanks for the great article. Glad you're still in it. (I know Roberta Williams is out there on a shrimp boat, somewhere.) I'm one of "those" guys. You know the ones. "I've got a great idea for a game..." There are more ideas than people to make them, and I know if mine is to ever get made, I'll have to be the one to make it.

And sorry about these other clowns' posts.

Big Bopper's Son Describes Seeing the Dad He Never Met 48 Years After His Death

Oct 25th 2010 2:26AM (Spinner)
Jay, I saw the John Mueller's Winter Dance Party a few years ago and I think it's my favorite concert of all time. It's the only concert I've ever attended where "magic" happened. I'm 44 - born in '66 - and I grew up with my mom's collection of 45's. What you do is honorable and memorable. To be honest, your father, Buddy and Richie should have been the first three people indicted into the RNRHOF, and your father deserves to be in it as much as anyone on the planet. Anyone who disagrees, calls him "one hit wonder" or whatever, is just simply wrong. Do not ever doubt it.

Career Watch: Joaquin Phoenix

Sep 23rd 2010 9:51PM (Moviefone Blog)
The guy doesn't need a comeback. Everybody knew this was just an attempt to do something different, and I don't imagine that it will affect his career one way or another. I go to see movies, not people, and if he's in a movie I want to see, I'll go see it. It's not like he's Mel Gibson or something.

Microsoft shows how Natal recognizes players, gender

Apr 17th 2010 6:28AM (Joystiq)
Bones, people. The same way someone can look at a skeleton and tell if it's from a male or female, Natal can tell by comparing the ratio of lengths of bones. It knows where the joints are that connect the bones, so it knows the lengths of the bones.

President Signals Support for Reconciliation to Pass Health Care

Mar 3rd 2010 5:14PM (Politics Daily)
This is a huge mistake.

Every time there is been an improvement in the economy, there has been a tax cut, whether it was Reagan or JFK - party didn't matter. A tax cut frees up more money for entrepreneurs to start new businesses and hire people. Between the elimination of Bush's tax cut later this year, and the additional taxes from this health care program, he is going to single handedly destroy the USA.

2012's a'comin', alright, and it's going to be a depression unless someone stands up to this cult of personality.

Susan Boyle's Idol Gets Nasty, Calls Her a 'Virus'

Jan 31st 2010 2:32PM (PopEater)
I have been listening to the soundtrack to "Chess" since 1984, and Elaine Paige's performance on it is one of the best vocals I've ever heard. Her duet "I Know Him So Well" is one of the best pop songs ever written. So when I heard she and Susan Boyle were going to sing it together, I waited with enthsiastic anticipation. Paige came out and nailed it. Boyle came out, and was early on every line. You could see Paige wince. I couldn't even make it through the whole performance and turned it off. Paige wasn't particularly mean in these remarks, but she's dead-on accurate.

Jay Leno May Move Back to Late Night

Jan 7th 2010 10:03PM (Inside TV Blog)
I'd pay to see Conan. I'd go see David Letterman free. I wouldn't go see Leno at all. I wouldn't even watch him on TV for free. The guy is a comedian for soft-headed people who laugh at jokes in Reader's Digest.

In Defense of Guy Fieri

Nov 25th 2009 5:22PM (Slashfood)
PS It's just sad they don't give him a chance to actually cook. Great host, but a waste of cooking skills. Funny Chang trashed Fieri for his clothes and not his cooking. I mean, there's shallow and there's.... that.
