TomTom feels jolly, temporarily drops price of iPhone GPS app {Engadget}

Dec 14th 2009 5:47PM @tommy2468 Except that what you're really paying for with GPS units and apps are the maps. A cheapo GPS from a no name company will probably have crappy maps and end up giving you bad directions.

PSA: PS3 Firmware Update 3.15 available now {Joystiq}

Dec 10th 2009 4:25AM @AerialAngel87 [PSN ID - AerialAngel] No, they wouldn't lose money. They make their money off of game sales, not hardware sales. The more games they sell the more money they make.

Dec 5th 2009 4:48AM Apple is DRM free now, the files are just in AAC the successor to MP3.

Apple looking to buy Lala, get into streaming music? (Update: sale confirmed) {Engadget}

Dec 4th 2009 10:37PM @Tubular Yes there is some DRM in the store still (movies, apps), but music is DRM free.

Not being able to use iTunes to make ringtones is not the same thing. Apple is trying to actually follow the law, while actually make the ringtone market slightly better. Legal ringtones from the major labels cost around $2 and songs from them cost about $1. So Apple added the ability to make a song into a ringtone for an extra $1.

Honestly the entire ringtone market is a scam, but Apple isn't doing anything wrong.

Don't shop drunk: Verizon's $350 ETF is now live {Engadget}

Nov 15th 2009 3:36PM If you're paying an ETF the problem is not the phone, but the cell service. Your contract doesn't say you'll use the phone for 2 years, it says you'll pay for the service for 2 years. You can always swith phones or buy a new one without a discount.
