Staying organized on a Mac

I use a paper and pencil calendar. This for a girl with five computers and a passel of servers. Oh and the MacBook Pro is smokin' hot... way too hot for my lap or even hands. I swear this thing is going to raise my cooling bill.

To the people I work with: Less phone calls, more email and IM please.

I agree 100 percent. IM saves time, is pervasive, is less time intensive, and you know if the person is free or not from their status. Phone calls are great for gabbing with my parents once a week or with my best friend about all the details of her day. Also, when you are dealing with sites, you need someplace where you can share links quickly and efficiently. The phone is not that place.

Much better AIM!

How YouTube Won: Great SEO + Stolen Content (or "the biggest hit and run in the history of the Internet")

Hmmm, I'm not sure I agree with you on this. I hate the use of flash on YouTube. Also, I hate the fact that whatever I'm looking for is on it. I guess what I'm saying is that I hate myself for using it so much. The best case scenario is someone writing a non-flash based YouTube with flickr-like simplicity.

Brent: It's not "My First Electronics Project™" material, but it is definitely doable. I would recommend tackling a few beginner projects (see Hackaday.com and Make.com) then attempting this one.

South America via Wheel Chair

I traveled the north of France with my father and my maternal grandfather about five years ago. The thing that struck us the most about traveling with someone in a wheelchair was that the Michelin Guide marked places with the wheelchair accessible symbol meant "up to three stairs." I'm not sure if this is still the case but it shocked us then (and even added to a few cases of extreme furniture rearranging in restaurants to allow for the wheelchair to come in through a side entrance). Once we had to go up a flight of stairs and in through what was a window because the door was too tight a fit. The restaurant where we did that was listed as wheelchair accessible in the Guide Michelin. We had quite a time renting cars that had doors that opened wide enough to allow for transfers from the wheelchair to the car. In the end we were happy that we all three went along because it would have been too difficult with two.
