Top Spin 4 is Move compatible, but 'not Kinect'

Jan 18th 2011 5:36PM (Joystiq)
@ItsameMatt03

Not everyone has tennis court sized living rooms to run around in...

Developers need to get really creative if we are going to see some really cool games come out for Kinect. Microsoft already has people buying them by the truckloads without a killer app. Imagine how well it will do if developers can break through its limitations.

Nissan books 8,000 Leaf orders in nine days, gets turned on with that electric feel

It makes me wonder what GM was thinking when they cancelled their EV1 project (the precursor to the Volt). They would have had similar success.

Something else important to note, the environmental friendliness of an electric car is only a good as the power that supplies it. If you buy your power from a utility that has a significant portion of nuclear, wind, solar or hydro you are actually doing something for the environment. Otherwise you are just centralizing the pollution if your power comes from coal or oil.

Regardless, this is good to see. Possibly one of the only benefits from the oil spill in the gulf of mexico is people will consider more fuel efficient cars or electric cars.

PS3 firmware 3.21 is out: say goodbye to 'install other OS'

Apr 1st 2010 12:08AM (Engadget)
I find it interesting how mad people are about this.

Installing Linux was an option that very few people used. I tried it and found it incredibly slow. Sony did not put any resources into optimizing the experience and it showed.

If you are willing to lose online functionality for PS3 Linux, you probably didn't want a PS3 in the first place.

Do we really want another PSP debacle on our hands? Looking at the quality and amount of games for PS3 vs. PSP, its pretty obvious what piracy did to the PSP. Not only that, but the cat and mouse firmware game was a big waste of time for everyone.

Am I bummed that yet another feature is retracted from the PS3? Yes. But its not that big a deal. And considering I got my PS3 to play games, I don't really want piracy to get out of control. It has effected the amount of games on the PSP especially from third parties.

GameStop listing shows SanDisk's Xbox 360-branded USB drives at outrageous prices

Mar 30th 2010 10:24PM (Engadget)
I have to hand it to Microsoft. They planned there console very well as a money making machine.

-they charge for for online services. For someone who has had online since launch, that is $200 right there.
-they charge for a wireless adapter. Not a necessity but most people have wireless networks in their homes.
-they have a paid movie service
-they charge for storage

Microsoft knows that most consumers plan in the short term. People see a $200 console and jump in. We rationalize any extra purchases by convincing ourselves we saved money on the initial price. But spending extra on storage, wireless and online products adds up.

There is a reason why Microsoft is turning a profit with their Xbox division and Sony is bleeding money.

Geohot advises against updating PS3, will find 'safe way' around losing OS support

Mar 29th 2010 10:30PM (Engadget)
How does this guy expect Sony just to let him exploit their console?

It is like knowing a burgular can get into your back door and leaving it unlocked. Or you could lock that door. Sure, your kids will not be able to get in when they sneak out after dark, but your house is still safe.

I am all for cracking and hacking when it opens up new features. But in this case, it also leads to piracy. Do we really want another PSP hacking debacle?

Not only that. The time Sony spends dealing with piracy could be put towards making new features and games. The PS3 still has a long wishlist of features.

If he really ramps up a hacking war with Sony. We will all lose. Stop supporting this idiot.

Inspiron Mini 13 now listed on Dell Canada website

One thing to keep in mind is battery life. A machine with a discrete graphics card and a full blown Core 2 Duo processor is going to be power hungry. Dell has never been the best with battery life to begin with.

Acer Timeline 1810T gets renamed and reviewed ahead of imminent US release

Aug 17th 2009 1:14AM (Engadget)
This is your last warning Acer. Release a Timeline notebook with the ATI HD4330 graphics for North America or I'm not biting. Seriously, that notebook would be ideal for anyone looking for battery life, graphical powerful, windows and a reasonable price.

I can get the first two with a Macbook Pro, but the last two are a little bit of a stretch.

You have two more weeks Acer, don't let me down.

Acer Timeline 8000 series arrives at Office Depot

This isn't anything special or new for that matter. Just release one with an ATI graphics card. Trust me Acer, there is a market for it besides Europe and Australia.
