Japanese hardware sales, Sept. 14 - Sept. 20: Live from Tokyo edition

Sep 28th 2009 3:57AM (Joystiq)
I wonder if the PS3 sales will keep up or fall flat in the next few weeks...

Nintendo releasing black Wii, red DSi this summer

Jun 4th 2009 4:32AM (Joystiq)
I would love to get a black Wii but I have too many VC/WiiWare downloads...

How is it possible to transfer them?

Nintendo! If I buy a digital license I should be able to take my games where ever I choose. PSN, Steam and LIVE marketplace are set up that way.

It would seem as though Nintendo has it wrong again... just like people wanting online multiplayer as a standard feature :-(

@B3astofthe3ast

I would buy the retro Wii in a heartbeat.

Common Nintendo...do it

Next Call of Duty: World at War map pack coming in June

Apr 30th 2009 5:08PM (Joystiq)
Public service announcement:

DO NOT BUY

Console owners shelled out $10 for maps while PC gamers got them all for FREE. Good way to tell your fans how you care about them right? Don't support anymore paid DLC....unless you like paying for someone getting maps while you get screwed.

I don't care if PC gamers are used to getting patches, updates, and DLC for free. Guess what? It shouldn't be an expected standard. Things cost money. If you don't want to buy DLC...don't. Its sad when publishers have to tip toe around PC gamers feelings because they threaten to pirate their game as protest. Publishers should skip PC retail all together. Support consoles- if we are paying $60 for games and willing to pay for a million map packs, they should remember who makes them more money. They shouldn't get preferential treatment.

Sorry for the rant but watch as the second map pack is released for another $10 fee for playing on a console instead of a PC.

Windows 7's virtual XP has intangible system requirements

Apr 29th 2009 10:31AM (Engadget)
I have an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4600+...with that said, I ran the app (included with the story update) and don't have 'hardware virtualization.' Can anyone explain why? It would seem that not all Athlon 64 chips support this feature.

Faith Fighter shut down over Islamic protest

Apr 28th 2009 8:39PM (Joystiq)
Thank you for your perspective. It gives me a little hope...However, wouldn't you agree that a majority of Muslims would be offended? Most of the Muslim world resides in poorer places than Europe, and NA (the West). When religion is the dominant social force in one's life (and sharia law dominates) how could the majority of Muslims not get offended? If by following Islamic law, you are obedient to Islam, I don't think this game would agree with too many. The Danish cartoons come to mind. I do not mean to be inflammatory or insulting but am curious. Also, Muslims and Christians believe in the same God so I don't consider myself too far removed to relate religiously. I would appreciate a response.

Personally, I can find the humor of the game but would not play it more than once. I agree that the game is ignorant at best and (for me) offensive at the worst. I played as Jesus btw :-p However, free speech should never be denied because of religion. There are too many people on this planet to appease everyone and no one group should be given special treatment. Censorship because of religion is not good for anyone.

GDC09: Tecmo talks Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 DLC, exclusivity, 'loss of face'

Mar 25th 2009 5:34AM (Joystiq)
I'm not thrilled I have to pay for an enhanced port of NG2 but I'm happy to have the additional content and non campaign co-op.

Question of the day: why are 360 owners getting shafted? NGS only sold 500k. NG2 sold 1.5 million. Why would Tecmo release a remix version on a console that made them less money. Sony isn't even funding the development like Microsoft did with NG2. The franchise originated on the Xbox and most of its fans game on the 360.Where is our Ninja Gaiden Black 2?

GDC09: Introducing the Zeebo, Tectoy's 3G console venture

Mar 24th 2009 5:55AM (Joystiq)
I would totally get a zeebo. I would put it right next to my Wii and hope that I got 3G service from somewhere...jk. The console isn't coming to Europe, N.A or Japan. Also, a major service provider would have to offer 3G for free (or charge) much like Sprint does for Amazon's Kindle.

GDC09: Rearden Studios introduces OnLive game service and 'microconsole'

Mar 24th 2009 5:45AM (Joystiq)
I agree. The service is too ambitious for today's networking speeds. Once everyone has fiber or cable for that matter I can see OnLive being a success. Not today. I would almost compare it to the Dreamcast and its at the time online capabilities. Too ambitious and not mainstream enough to be successful. Perhaps Rearden Studios will be courted as a possible acquisition. I would LOVE to be able to play any PC title of my choosing. I never thought I would play Crysis and perhaps one day I shale...and sooner than later. Its easy to be pessimistic about the service, as it sounds too good to be true. I hope I'm wrong.
