Mega64 gets the lowdown on Rock Band 3's new logo

I love Mega64, but that wasn't the least bit funny.

DJ Hero 2 out this fall, free DJ Hero DLC out today

Jun 8th 2010 2:02PM (Joystiq)
When I first had the turntable in my hands, it was obvious to me that they intended to add another turntable in the future. The port on the left side was a giveaway. Surely they didn't intend it for lefties alone...knowing Activision, I knew they wanted you to buy another turntable for the sequel.

DJ Hero 2 out this fall, free DJ Hero DLC out today

How is Nintendo anti-free DLC? Have they said this? Where is it documented that this falls on Nintendo and not Activision?

There has been quite a bit of free DLC on the Wii. Not just the 20 RB2 songs...GH had a few free songs for download on Wii, the same that were on 360 and PS3. They offered free WiiWare demos. There are all of the channels, which isn't really what you think of when you think of DLC, but they are free content that is downloadable.

I don't know why Activision couldn't do this for DJ Hero when they did it several times for GH on Wii.

Sims 3 console trailer exposes the dark nature of humanity

I'm particularly looking forward to playing this with the Wii remote...just hope they don't make it too linear like they tend to do with the console Sims games.

Time ranks Virtual Boy, Farmville among top 50 worst inventions

May 30th 2010 4:27PM (Joystiq)
Farmville wouldn't even qualify as an invention, because it was preceded by the nearly identical Farm Town.

Both of them suck balls, as do Facebook games in general (and Facebook itself), but yeah...Farmville shouldn't be given credit for anything but being a total ripoff.

Game Boy modded to play GBA, GBC games

Cool, but call me when they mod a DS to play GB/GBC games.

Mad Catz now 'principal peripherals partner' for Rock Band franchise

Apr 23rd 2010 3:14PM (Joystiq)
Rock Band is by far the superior game, but Red Octane's peripherals have always been better imo. The GH3 Les Paul still hasn't been beat, and the WT/GH5 guitars were better than RB guitars too. As for drums, it's a close call, but the Band Hero drums are probably the best non-premium set out there.

To each his own, but I can't stand RB guitars. None of the buttons or the strum bar seem to feel as solid, and seem to stick more often. I much prefer GH's "clicky" strum bar to RB's squishy one.

And I've never been impressed with Mad Catz; they've had at least 15 years to prove themselves to me, and their peripherals have never been up to par.

Rock Band Weekly: Serj Tankian, Smash Mouth, The Used

Apr 9th 2010 12:04PM (Joystiq)
"A Taste of Ink" and "All Star" are probably buys for me, though I would have preferred "Buried Myself Alive" and "Walkin' on the Sun."

Green Day: Rock Band features all of 'American Idiot'

Apr 3rd 2010 9:09PM (Joystiq)
Honestly, AI is a great album. People want to hate on it because it took them to ridiculous levels of popularity. But it doesn't matter, it's still great. Even Pitchfork rated it well by their standards when it came out, though I'm sure they want to take it back now. Anyway, this game is getting close to a buy for me, but still no export on Wii, so Harmonix is going to have to fix that.

Mario Galaxy 2 nets $20 credit from Amazon

Mar 25th 2010 1:51PM (Joystiq)
As much as I prefer Amazon, it's only credit toward a future game purchase...$20 at Wal-Mart is more valuable to me. That's almost a week of groceries.
