PSA: Netflix beginning shipments of Wii streaming discs

Mar 25th 2010 1:48PM (Joystiq)
It's my dad's account so I'm not sure if I'm in yet...but I'm really excited. This will be my first instant streaming device. My dad has a Roku at home and it's great.

Pick up Guitar Hero 5 at a Guitar Hero 3 price today

Mar 16th 2010 4:53PM (Joystiq)
You know, I told myself I wouldn't buy this game when it was first released, but I did and it's really grown on me. RB2 is still king, especially on drums, but sometimes I actually prefer playing guitar on GH5.

It's definitely worth it if you can obtain the import codes for GHWT, GH Smash Hits, and Band Hero. Try going to Blockbuster or GameStop to see if there's a manual in any of the cases, snap a pic of the code on the back, and give it a shot.

Nintendo sells 1.9 million DS and Wiis through Feb. 2010

I agree with you on the second point, but three Marios, two Zeldas, and two Metroids aren't enough?

Nintendo sells 1.9 million DS and Wiis through Feb. 2010

Mar 12th 2010 11:56AM (Joystiq)
I see figures like this every month, and I usually don't really consider them, but it's pretty amazing when you stop and think about what it means.

Worldwide, the Wii has outsold the NES by about 6 million units. About 67 million vs. 61 million. That's pretty huge, given that pretty much everyone I knew when I was 7 had an NES, and they had no major competitors.

By comparison, SNES sold about 49 million, N64 sold about 34 million, and the GameCube didn't even crack 22 million.

Wii sales might be slowing, but they're showing no signs of stopping. Nintendo should be proud.

Eminem & Jay-Z all mixed up in new DJ Hero DLC pack

Mar 10th 2010 9:04PM (Joystiq)
I may pick one of these mixes up because they sound so good, but I don't care how you justify it, $3 per song is too much. Figure out a way to lower the cost, or don't bother. I have a hard enough time with $2 on Rock Band, but I still buy too much damn DLC.

Give me the same thing other digital music retailers can (ability to transfer to other devices) AND the ability to play it in a game, and I'll be okay with paying twice as much or possibly more. As it stands you're buying music that has to be tethered to one device, as fun as that device may be.

But I know, I know, if they can sell it at this price, they're gonna do it...

Rock Band Weekly: Lady Gaga, Cartman's 'Poker Face'

Mar 9th 2010 1:11PM (Joystiq)
I'm not a fan either, but some people are. Teen girls and trannies play Rock Band now too, whether you like it or not. If you don't like this pack, no one is forcing you to buy it. Be thankful that Harmonix actually puts out weekly DLC almost two and a half years after the first game came out, STFU, and hope for something better next week.

MadWorld for an insanely low $10

Mar 4th 2010 8:50PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Definitely worth it. But It was on Amazon for $13 at Christmas time, so I picked it up then.

Part of me loves that so many great Wii games are this cheap, but another part of me hates it because it's just more proof of the difficulties third parties have...so, it's cool in the short-term, but bad in the long-term.

MadWorld for an insanely low $10

^ This is why hardcore games don't sell on Wii; you 1337 fuckers pirate them and ruin it for the rest of us

Pachter: Natal more than $50 after all, DSi XL won't sell

Feb 25th 2010 8:07PM (Joystiq)
What/who gives Pachter so much credibility? tbh, I know people who post on internet message boards who do the same thing he does, and are more right more often.

Tetris Party Deluxe coming to Wii and DS this June

Feb 25th 2010 7:58PM (Joystiq)
I have the WiiWare version and Tetris DS. I can't imagine it being better than Tetris DS, and you can't trade in download titles, so...no buy.

All I really need is the basic game, anyway. All these extra modes and features matter very little to me.
