Is this the update that's been in the works under the name "Cupcake"? I heard a lot of great stuff is going in there, including possible multitouch support in the API -- apparently they left it out of 1.0 to avoid lawsuits with Apple, but now I understand it looks like those patents are going to be unenforceable. I'd love to see a pinch-zoom browser, etc.

Anyway, I was on the fence about a G1, but now it looks a lot more likely in the future...

No 5-way? Blargh. I was really interested in a Touch Pro until I got my hands on it in the AT&T store and the 5-way sucked. Now the Pro2 won't have one at all? I was worried people were going to listen to Steve Jobs when he said buttons were dead -- looks like I might have been right. What a moron.

Well, you could use Google's IMAP server to hook in with Outlook. There is also a Gmail standalone app at http://www.google.com/mobile/winmo/

I think last time I tried it, it didn't support proxies correctly so I did the webmail thing (m.gmail.com); YMMV.

Seriously, though, I think the program is great. My wife is actually thinking of taking graphic design courses at the local community college, because the courses are much much cheaper than actually buying a license for Expression Studio, and she just wants to play with it to learn...

"Follows stated policies" != "horrible customer service". It says right in the game's description what resolution it runs at. If you can't figure out how to run your monitor letterboxed (or otherwise in a "playable" mode), that's really not their fault. AFAIK exactly *zero* of the GoG games are "console ports" -- every single one of them is a classic PC game, and the only changes made to the original code are to allow it to work on XP / Vista. Each game's page also clearly displays any issues it might have under a new OS -- some lack multiplayer, usually due to Vista's complete abandonment of IPX -- so you can't exaclty say you weren't warned.

Specific to Oddworld, the game was made back in the day when people just didn't have to horsepower to display fluid animations at XGA and above, so they made the in-game resources (art, animation, etc.) down to the specs they needed. The detail just *isn't there* to give you, so if you don't like "bad" (read: old-school) graphics, GoG is not the place to shop. I'm sorry you didn't have a good experience, but I and a lot of others did.

Vuze has shipped with a media server plugin since it was called Azureus, I think. The only new feature (not trivial, I grant you) is built-in transcode for unsupported media. As for #1, if Vuze is running it should show up under Video on your XMB -- you might have to turn the Media Server plugin on, but I thought it was on by default. Myself, I run TVersity instead -- it lets me organize my media with a hierarchical file structure, where Vuze just throws them all together (I think?).

I used PIM Backup (http://www.pocketpcfreewares.com/en/index.php?soft=1806) to offload my contacts, calendar, etc -- I had been using the free Mail2Web.com Exchange server previously, but that doesn't give me a very good view of my calendar, nor does it have the neat sharing features you get through GCal.

Unfortunately, once you sync any category to an Exchange server, it's bound there forever, and deleting the Exchange partnership actually *clears all items* that have been synced. So if you bound Contacts, Email, Calendar, and Tasks to a server, trying to change to a different server will wipe all those things out completely! The solution is to back up, delete the partnership, then restore the items from the backup. This is, of course, retarded, but MS hasn't fixed it and there's no reason to think they're going to start now.

Please for Pete's sake tell me they're going to support this with WinMo Gears!

The thing that bugs me about WM upgrades is that they generally apply only to new hardware. My TyTN has gotten homebrew/hacked WM 6.1 upgrades, but I think the last official support is WM 5 or maybe 6.0 (I forget). I really wish they'd encourage a more modular hardware support/driver system, so those of us who already have a phone would have an easier time keeping the software up to date.
