Sonic and Mario team up for the Olympics
Mar 28th 2007 11:24AM (Joystiq)Should be good fun, and might just make an Olympics game worth buying. Could be an april fool of course, but the Big Official Olympic logo seems to suggest otherwise.
Dude, where's my cursor (Wii annoyance #1)
Nov 11th 2006 8:37PM (Joystiq)Have to argue that it's probably a good thing the pointer does leave the screen rather than just hang on the side given the nature of the Wiimote (hear me out). On a PC, when the mouse leaves the screen, you can deactivate the mouse and return it to a central position to ensure it doesn't fall of the desk. You couldn't do this with a Wiimote easily, and if the pointer was stuck on the side the coordination between the pointer and the Wiimote would be changed, so you'd end up having to keep changing your physical direction in order to stay in control.
(I've probably copied someone else's comment - oh well)
Wii unique like 'Google,' says Nintendo
Apr 28th 2006 12:18PM (Joystiq)Wii isn't the name of the console. Wii is the name of the the whole package of things that mad up what was Revolution. The console bit is the Wii console, the controller is the Wii controller, the Virtual Console is the Wii Virtual Libary or whatever. Wii is just the name that ties it all together.
It's a subtle difference, but an important one. You don't play on Wii, not on a Wii or the Wii. The name sound like a web service or a concept, like Steam for example. You don't ask for a Wii, you ask for the Wii base unit, or the Wii controller, or whatever. Wii to me sound more like a concept than a console - it's a mixture of all the things Revolution promised (controller, libary etc) tied up into one concept - Wii.
Wii isn't the console name per say (the console is just the console - which you can call whatever you want) Wii is the complete system of everything promised. And as a concept rather than a piece of technology, I really like the name.
Nintendo "Revolution" now called "Wii" [update 6]
Apr 27th 2006 3:47PM (Joystiq)I was a little shocked when I heard the name too, but its growing on me. Everything sounds weird the first time you see it. I'm sure puns will be made and whatever, but eventually people are gonna run out of stuff to say...and then we'll get back to to the name.
And Wii is growing on me. We'll have to see what happens, but lets not start predicting doom. There's enough of that already...
Zelda: TP will be "special" on the Revolution
Feb 20th 2006 1:19PM (Joystiq)Anyway, "special features" - we'll have to see, won't we? The game will still be relased for the Gamecube with extras for Revolution - that's far more reasonable than simply moving it over to Revolution. The only problem is now people are up in arms about a "delay" of a title that never had a confirmed date in the first place.
I have a Gamecube, and I hope to buy a Revolution. Now I can buy Zelda and have fun playing it while I save up the pennies for a Revolution - and then get the extras. That's not really such a bad deal.
Zelda: Twilight Princess delay is official
Feb 19th 2006 3:07PM (Joystiq)If Nintendo do put in some extra features for Revolution, that's fine by me, but it gets to me when people say Nintendo are betraying their Gamecube fans. The console can't live forever, but at least Nintendo are making sure it get's a good send off. If you have a Gamecube you can play the game on there. If you don't, you can buy a Revolution.
I think the people complaigning as to whether this will stop Gamecube sales are missing the point - at some point you have to move on from trying to sell Cubes and move on to getting your new machine off the ground. Remember, Nintendo are trying to make a big push for people who have never played a console before - and people are not going to buy an old console just so they can play this one game, not when they know that theres a new console around the corner that can play new games as well as Zelda (and possibly give it some new features)
Nintendo could have announced this to be moved to Revolution a long time ago, but they haven't. Instead, they've made sure Gamecube owners will be able to playing it without splashing out for a new system, and if there are any extra features, you can get them if and when you get a Revolution.
And as for the delay - It wouldn't be a Zelda game if it hadn't been delayed at least once...
Twilight Princess gone 'til November [Update 1]
Feb 16th 2006 8:27PM (Joystiq)We still don't know when the game will definitely be released. If there are delays there will be two possible reasons - 1. Nintendo want to make sure that the game is a good as they want it to be when it comes out, and/or 2. If what people are saying is true, perhaps add a few Revolution features to the game.
The game is definitely coming out on Gamecube - no-one has reported anything different.
As to the extra fetures, well it's up to you to decide if they're real. I personally believe they will, but things change quickly in this business.
When you think about it, no-one has "lost" anything from any delay. Gamecube owners (myself included) will be able to play it on a Gamecube, and also on the Revolution, possibly with extra features, possibly not. We might have to wait a little longer, but it's not like we can do anything about it.
Besides, it wouldn't be a true Nintendo game if it hadn't been delayed at least three time... ;)
