Rock Band slump leads to lower Viacom profits

Jul 28th 2009 4:15PM (Joystiq)
Rock Band: Beatles = snore. Releasing a full on bundle based around one single band regardless of how "great" they may be thought to be is a horrible idea. Not being able to import Beatles music from Beatles game in to existing RB library is another horrible idea. I understand this is probably not HMX's idea, but still. I'm a huge HMX supporter, but I have absolutely no interest in this project.

Also, while I know it's largely debateable, the recent slew of DLC for RB2 just seems to be really lackluster. It's as if HMX is just trying to force their own niche music down people's throats.

I still enjoy RB2 and I'm hoping they come out with a new version eventually with some of the features added in the most recent GH stuff: drop in and out of songs, change difficulty on the fly, multiples of the same instruments, etc.

Heroes and villains go rogue in new City of Heroes expansion

May 12th 2009 3:03PM (Joystiq)
I just started playing this game again two weeks ago after being out of it for years. They've added so much content and features since I've last played that it feels fresh again.

I was very convinced that I'd be jumping all over Champions Online, but I highly doubt that it's going to provide the same in-depth and enriched experienced provided by the current build of City of Heroes/Villains.

My biggest concern when Villains was introduced was that they were basically cutting their player base in half between the two sides but recently they've added some co-op zones between both sides and now this full blown expansion which emphasizes interactivity between both sides. This is a really good move.

Also, you can download the client for free and even get a free 14 day trial from their main site.

Faith Fighter shut down over Islamic protest

Pretty fun game. Couple gripes though, God's jump kick is way overpowered and the last boss, Xenu, is pure cheese.

Where's the official boards so I can whine to the devs and threaten to quit if they don't make the changes I want?

Battlefield 1943 hits the trenches this June for $15 [update]

So I'm confused... is this the same thing as the "Free" Battlefield Heroes... and if not, why two different products that seem very similar from the same developer?

Cool game. Kinda short. Hope they add DLC soon. I will NOT pay for DLC though, they should have added it in the first pla- wait... sorry.

Kid brings gun to school ... to trade for a PSP

Sounds like this kid got a better trade-in deal than anything GameStop would've offered.

Hooray for skewed data.

So you want to see Final Fantasy XIII in action?

Does no one else think the character design on the black dude is horrible? Why does he bounce up and down so much in battle? Look at how dumb he looks when he shoots and then he does a little spin when he's done shooting? WTF is this? Is he supposed to be like jivin' and dancin'? Is this really what Japan thinks of black people?

Is it too early put in my nomination for worst character ever?

Here's hoping that Valve sends Square an e-mail allowing them to use Louis from L4D instead of the garbage shown in this video.
