Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising deploys October 6
Jul 18th 2009 6:56AM (Joystiq)It is an amazing effort, it really is. But its a long way from being perfect.
It's still very buggy, and the AI is schizophrenic, wavering from competant to stunningly inept at the drop of a hat.
The multiplayer is great, if you find an organized community. Unfortunately 90% of the servers are filled with idiots playing giant laggy battles vs static AI, scattering away from one another and it isnt interesting and it doesnt work.
Find a good community and you will have fun with it.
But heres the real problem for me... A game like this lives or dies by its immersiveness. and Arma 2 has absolutely none, simply because of the voice acting. Barring absolutely none, its the worst I have heard in 5 years. It's completely unacceptable and I have no idea how they didnt learn from there mistakes with the first one.

The bit at the beginning is bad, but wait till you hear the actual gameplay part. Holy shit.
Tom Clancy's EndWar demo deployed on Xbox Live
Oct 16th 2008 8:36AM (Joystiq)Also, the command vehicle gives you a UAV that I havent seen shot down to scout with, once you get your head around the game its pretty fun.
I think people arent using the overhead map very much. I would say im pretty damn poor at this game yet ive won 4/5 games on.line since my opponents never seem to have a clue
SCEE says no more 60GB PlayStation 3 in US after July [Update]
Jul 13th 2007 7:52AM (Joystiq)I'm sorry. But this doesnt make sense. A 80gb model at a lower price would be a HUGE announcement for sony, and they would be crowing about it NOW. and things would be good for them. The clearance sale discount would be more like 150 or more had they intended to release the 80 at the discounted price.
Personally im surprised they wont be making both, with the 80gb selling at a premium. But if the discontinuation is true, then this is simply a good old bait and switch.
Joystiq First Look: Fallout 3
Jul 1st 2007 12:46PM (Joystiq)You guys have some crazy entitlement issues. Fact is, the game isnt yours, and if bethesda didnt take measures to broadening its appeal, this game wouldnt get made.
If the game sucks and breaks the universe, Fine, but what we have seen isnt cheapening the old games, it isnt a travesty or an insult to the world. It looks like its going to be a chance to see a familiar setting from a new perspective.
The ridiculous bitching surrounding this title? The slathering hate for no good reason? Personally, i count myself lucky that im getting more fallout at all.
Joystiq First Look: Fallout 3
Jul 1st 2007 12:19PM (Joystiq)To me, fallout is not about the combat, its not about the isometric viewpoint, its about atmosphere and exploring a kooky post apoc world. I think a first person view will help massively with the immersion of the world, and while its not going to be the same, theres no reaason this wont be a superb game, nor one that isnt worthy of the name.
But the nasty, spitefull, scummy little community built around the game wont give it a chance unless its a port with a new story.
