Male gamers: Female avatars FTW!

Jul 30th 2006 9:03PM (Joystiq)
One thing that isn't mentioned in the article is whether or not an equal amount of effort is given in designing each of the genders of any given game. If you take EVE Online as an example, facial features are noticeably more exagerrated in males than in females. If you simply want to play a realistic looking character, depending on which race you choose, you would have to default to a female avatar if you simply wanted to look presentable.

The same applies to World of Warcraft. The majority of the human male models look as if they are over 40 years of age. Most have noticeable creases and wrinkles in their face, and a disturbing number of them are bald. Considering how many 18-25 year old males must play this game, it's odd how few 18-25 year old male avatars exist.

Smash Bros. site updated again

I don't think the line "This isn't a pure character addition" refers to the fact that she's like Zelda/Sheik and is able to switch back and forth. I think it's more along the lines of Adult Link and Young Link from SSBM. They're both selectable characters that are able to fight each other, even though theoretically they represent the same person. I think what the bio meant was that Zero Suit Samus and Regular Suit Samus are individual selectable characters, even though they also theoretically represent the same person.

I think the line about certain conditions being met is just referring to the lore behind the characters. Just as how under certain conditions Adult Link will become Young Link in Ocarina of Time via the Master Sword.

Claim: Revolution Pilotwings developed by Hudson

Apr 19th 2006 8:25PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
1up.com (http://1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3149771) mentioned Hudson's flight game in their E3: First Looks article, but added that, "to folks who are pegging this as the new Pilotwings, rumors indicate that this isn't the game you're looking for."

So while I would personally love to see a new Pilotwings game, chances are I will have to keep waiting.
