Weird Al Yankovic Says Digital Is a Raw Deal For Some Artists

Jun 14th 2006 2:32PM (The Digital Music Weblog)
The way I see it, the only purpose that the recording label provides is marketing. Weird Al even said himself that you can have an at-home recording studio on the cheap. Mike is perfectly right:

"Record your own stuff, and then put it on iTunes directly by yourself, and reap the profits. You can make your own CD's to sell at concerts and etc ..."

Couldn't have said it better myself. The internet will provide you with a lot more marketing at a much cheaper price than anything else available. That's why the RIAA is trying to bring down pirates so much. They're clinging to the past since the future will render them obsolete. Good riddance I say.

E3 showdown: Sony vs. Microsoft vs. Nintendo [update 1]

May 9th 2006 10:47PM (Joystiq)
Relax, people, E3 has barely started. We have a whole week to absorb all the news. What're they gonna do, tell everything on day 1 and twiddle their thumbs for the rest of the week? Nintendo is probably waiting until near the end to reveal the third big secret (first = virtual console, second = controller) so Sony doesn't slap something together to counter it (it's called sarcasm, fanboys).

PlayStation 3 will/will not come with a hard drive, Part ?

Feb 16th 2006 12:29AM (Engadget)
Spring 2006 does leave open the possibility of a launch right after E3, but I guess we'll have to wait for official news. And anyone who remembers the launch for the PS2 will know that Sony really hypes up its systems, only to be forced to cut out features to sell at a reasonable price (the PSP would've cost well more than $250 if the publishers had not interviened and put their foot down). With all the specifications listed, I wouldn't be surprised if they had to make Blu-ray optional as well to launch the system at a competitive price to the 360 (don't forget, Microsoft could drop the price after Sony's announcement at E3). Since I'm a poor college student, High Definition (HD) or a hard drive (HDD) seem frivolous anyways. Wait, that applies to the 360 too. Oh well, viva la REVOLUTION!
