ESA member Epic Games speaks out against SOPA [Update: So do 38 Studios and Trion]

Most of these companies support the bill in general but think it goes to far and hurts freedom of speech.

Kinect Disneyland Adventures Minnie-game collection confirmed

They damn well better have space mountain and tower of terror or I'm not buying it........well I might just because I want to go back but can't because at my age if I go back without any kids I'll just be made fun off, and get kicked out.

Halo 4 finishes the fight (again) in 2012 [Update: teaser trailer!]

For anyone complaining about to much kinect based content, it true yes because E3 has become the media mainstream. So that's what they are aiming for. Mass appeal. For the smaller hardcore people they show off everything at the smaller events or just announce it when ready. Plus don't forget still plenty of 3rd party titles to be shown off for all consoles.

Oblivion expansions, Fallout 3 DLC half off on XBL this week

Still the best debate and picture ever for Xbox live. That story alone was worth it's weight in gold. I remember watching the forums and Joystiq exploded over it for almost a month. And now anytime anything overpriced and under rated hits MP everything comes back to horse armor.

The best line ever was from Major Nelsons show (back when he had a show that wasn't showboating microsoft and talking only about how cool 360 is.) and he said said "If you guys wanna make a point don't buy the horse armor, sorry but a lot of you guys bought the horse armor, ALOT"

PSN servers were 'unpatched and had no firewall installed,' security expert testifies

May 6th 2011 7:24PM (Joystiq)
In reply to all the above. First off, no developer should ever have to pay to put his content up on a marketplace for download, thats silly. You should have free access to put your content on the servers for no price, but the company selling it (Microsoft, sony, steam) should be entitled to a percentage of your revenue brought in. Thats how steam works. Microsoft works the oppisite way now but only because they started off with just a network for online play, that money goes towards network security, future proofing the network and new features that are being developed. Meanwhile all the content they have on the network is profit for microsoft. And FYI, you should NEVER have to pay to keep your credit card information safe, EVER!!!!! If I have a savings account at a bank and somebody hacks into the bank and steals all the money the bank can't legally tell me "well we can't predict what hackers will do so we lost all your money" you could not only sue the shit out of them but you could most likely getting a pretty strong case against them to have them shut down by the government. Sony should face the same thing here, and is by all accounts.

Some PSN services to return this week, full services 'within this month'

May 2nd 2011 2:28PM (Joystiq)
It's funny because Xbox live has been secure since the day it was launched, the service is unhackable (as in to sell personally information directly from a server without being directly on the server) and while xbox itself has been hacked and used online, it still has yet to gain access to any lower level functions of the xbox network. Sony had a flaw in the system that let a remote user hack into it's database, steal all that information and before sony even realized what had happened or what he had accessed he was gone.

Class action lawsuit filed against Sony for security breach

Apr 28th 2011 8:36PM (Joystiq)
I can't believe what I'm reading here. People just think it's ok for all this information to be leaked out on the internet. Let me tell you guys something, with your billing address, name and all the other stuff they got they can easily do some damage to you. Not to mention 70 million people (some who are minors mind you) are now exposed to the internet. Not sure about you but I wouldn't want anyone know where I lived and my kids lived unless I told them personally. Not only that but Sony and most other companies always say that it will not give this information to outside sources and it will be kept private, that is no longer true. This isn't about the hacker, they were in the wrong. It's about how sony failed to protect 70 million users data and didn't even warn them about it until a week later because they weren't sure. In this day and age with id theft at an all time high, They should have came forward from day 1 and made sure the public was aware that it was a possibility.

Microsoft asks state lawmakers to make domestic companies pay for foreign firms' software piracy

Mar 27th 2011 9:39AM (Engadget)
microsoft has a point no matter how you look at it and I'm sure there are much smaller companies attached to the bill, why go after the main source when in reality nothing is going to come of it. Instead threaten the companies that do use it and eliminate the problem that way. Is it fair.....yes. Is microsoft still charging to much for products....yes

Activision closing Bizarre Creations [Update: Activision confirms, options include 'potential sale']

Nov 16th 2010 8:48PM (Joystiq)
At some point you can't feel bad for these developers anymore. They had a great studio, tied to a great publisher (microsoft) and they sold themselves to activision and lost everything. Bungie was smart enough to at least contract it's next franchise out, but if it ends up not doing well they still have creative freedom (I think) to work with another publisher on a different game. Infinity ward should have done the same thing. Instead they see security and money and they jump at that. You have more control when your independent, yea it's more of a risk, but you can control your contracts so much better, and when you produce quality content (see: valve) you have nothing to worry about.

Xbox Live subscribers can vote for upcoming Deal of the Week

LOL, at first I thought they were clever enough to load the name you used on your account into the story, making it seem like they were inside your head (as long as you were logged in) but now that I see the name really is Brandon......I am a bit scared.......and seriously that is my name.
