Bethesda confirms Skyrim mod support, will release Creation Kit

Jan 19th 2011 11:11PM (Joystiq)
@oJMan240o Bingo. There's no point in playing a Bethesda game without mods. I was shocked when I discovered there was no modding for their 360 titles. It's a little extra work to deliver mods, but it would be worth it. Between that and the lack of custom controller layouts, it's like a frikking kiddie console. I can live with my boss telling me how to do my job, but why the frak would I want someone telling me how to play my games?

This walled garden BS is getting old.

Kinect hacks: One-handed FPS control

Jan 19th 2011 7:56AM (Joystiq)
@ytilanigiroon Why I would to be in a real firefight? The big problem with most IR gun games is having to hold them up. With my wiimote, back when I actually played wii, I was able to rest my hand on my knee, crank the sensitivity, shrink the dead zone, and have mouse-like control with lean-back comfort. I haven't since and may never enjoy sniping so much in a game as much as I did in one 2nd rate Wii FPS. Black Ops and Halo are more impressive games, but if Medal of Honor: Heroes 2's servers were still populated and maintained, I'd be playing it instead.

Kongregate Arcade removed from Android Market

@awesomerobot Yay for sideloading. I don't trust any company (or carrier) to tell me what I can and can't install on my own device.

Morrowind 2011 mod pack pulled after modders raise concerns

Jan 6th 2011 6:13PM (Joystiq)
@wcarnation Even if they did have legal rights, who's going to pay legal fees to sue to stop the slightly different free distribution of free mods they made for a game that is now more than 8 years old? Srsly.

It reminds me of TMobile threatening to sue Engadget Mobile for using TMo's color in their logo.

Not that that makes it cool to use modders' stuff without permission, for basic manners, but "threats of legal action" doesn't pass the laugh test.

Ubisoft relaxes its 'always on' internet PC game DRM

Jan 5th 2011 8:50PM (Joystiq)
@CorneliusPrime128 I'm not boycotting ubisoft, just the games with connection requirements. And second, I could care less if my purchase choices cause Ubisoft to change their ways. My position is simply that I don't pay to get screwed. Period.

If you want to shell out and bend over, and Ubisoft can find enough people like you, then you all deserve each other and the market works.

Ubisoft relaxes its 'always on' internet PC game DRM

Jan 5th 2011 1:42PM (Joystiq)
I refused to buy an ubisoft sub game solely because of this DRM during the Steam sale. Will continue to never "buy" a game with that requirement (or the "check on every launch" requirement). I have way too many entertainment options to put up with that crap.

If you're paying ubisoft to screw you, you're totally missing the point of prostitution.

This post is pretty deceptive. From shacknews (following the trail of via links): "Now, the games will supposedly only check legitimacy over the Internet EVERY TIME the game is launched, but can then be played offline." That's a change, but not much of one.

12 Days of Joyswag: Halo: Reach hair clippers, briefcase, book ... oh, and game

Dec 22nd 2010 12:21PM (Joystiq)
First time I played Halo was in a 12 player Combat Evolved lan party. There was good natured screaming back and forth between rooms amdist all the carnage and friendly jibs between gaming sessions over pizza, and it is still one of my favorite gaming experiences.

The worst Bugs? Bugs Bunny's Birthday Blowout. I liked crazy castle.
