McCann Erickson welcomes Sterling Cooper

Nov 18th 2009 6:56PM (AOL TV)
I love that they conveniently edited out the derisive comments made in the Mad Men finale about McCann/Erickson in their video, and the general plot point that all the principals fled Sterling Cooper because they wanted nothing to do with them.

Why I may have to boycott this week's episode of Top Chef

What a lazy bunch of reading and writing here. Portman did not equate eating meat to rape, and anyone who reads her writing in this manner has not read and understood her writing...

The author of this post really should reread Portman's article before making such baseless charges, especially when they distort issues in such a careless manner.

BTW, I love steak and bacon.

Chart Track: PS3 sales up 999% percent in UK

Sep 8th 2009 1:36PM (Joystiq)
Unsurprising jump in sales thanks to the price cut. I'm actually thinking about being one of the proud owners of a PS3 - there are a few games I want to try...but I'm divided on whether or not I should get a used 60GB w/ hardware based PS2 emulation, or get a slim PS3. Has anyone got any advice on the quality of the upscaling properties of the PS3, hardware or software based? I'm struggling to find any conclusive commentary about the quality of upscaling...

Holy Shield! Don't do it!

I trust Shawn Ryan. I think a prequel could totally work (pre-Terry Crowley shooting). I'm surprised there's been no talk of this!

No Dean Winters for 30 Rock? What kind of a world is this? HOW could they not have nominated him, Dummy?

Jen is disgusting in just about every way, slovenly in her appearance, attitude and ethics. Absolutely, positively disgusting.

Rumor: Xbox 360 dropping to $299.99

Jun 26th 2008 7:10PM (Joystiq)
I thinik rdj75 is dead on. The 360 seems to have been stuck in a sales rut, and been pegged as a machine just for hardcore gamers. Even though it has a far healthier library than the PS3, there just isn't the momentum there to really put sales on a trajectory of dominance like the PS2 enjoyed. A $50 cut might pique some people that were sitting on the fence, but it's just not enough. For some reason, even if it hit 199/249/299 I'm not entirely convinced it would be enough to propel the 360 to a dominant position...the nightmare of the RRoDs plus a perception (however misplaced) that it's just a box for FPS doesn't help.

30 Days: Same Sex Parenting

I love that this ep has generated so much discussion. Hopefully it's the real Kati involved on the boards here reading these comments, and knowing that this subject certainly brings out fervent believers on both sides of this issue. I have to say, it took Kati serious guts to step outside of her comfort zone to participate in this - it's more than the vast majority of us do. I find it hard, even though I ardently disagree with her position, to just write her off. How many ardent liberals take time to watch Fox News? How many die hard conservatives listen for a few minutes to Air America?

That said, I think fundamental to being American is a respect for the Constitution. My memory of history is hazy, but I'm under the impression that all of us are equal and all entitled to the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness. Gay/straight, black/white, rich/poor, are we not all considered equally under the law (in theory, anyway)? If this is the case, how can homosexuals be denied the same rights as heterosexuals? I am struggling to find a good reason to deny homosexuals the same rights. Sure, recent changes to CA law is not how we've traditionally looked at marriage in this country, but even as late as this year, it was illegal in some parts of the US to marry someone that wasn't the same race - which would seem to invalidate the "tradition" argument. From a practical standpoint, is there any evidence that homosexual households do "damage" to children disproportionately compared to heterosexual households?

For someone like Kati, who has had a set of experiences in her life and now sees the times and culturally acceptable mores changing right before her, it must be scary.
