Sep 7th 2007 7:45PM (Joystiq Xbox)Does anyone know if 360 will ever get mouse/keyboard support? If so I might have to try that Halo game people talk so much about - assuming it doesnt have any assisted aiming already built in. That I despise.

Jul 18th 2007 11:05PM (WoW)Fear, then while he's running you pop the instants and run after him a bit if need be to get all 3 instants. Watch the DoT timers closely. Fear again if it's about to break, before it breaks - if it doesn't break early. Worry more about keeping the instant ones up unless he's running perpendicular to you in your range, then re-cast UA. Immo's DD will break fear often. Only open with it and cast it a second time if you're ready to death coil immediately afterwards - followed by a new fear.

Jul 18th 2007 2:13AM (WoW)It appears the me that a lot of people are stuck in graphics, which personally bothers me. When gameplay is sacrificed for graphics something is wrong. Gameplay and fun is what it boils down to 100%. I'm not saying WoW is not fun, I'm not attacking WoW in this paragraph; I enjoy WoW. An example would be the shoddy work on RPG's over the past few years. Hardly any developers put enough effort into storyline and character development anymore. A few examples would be Dragon Warrior, Shining Force, Chrono Trigger and most of the Final Fantasy series up through 8 or 9 perhaps, but the true gems in the FF series were 6 and 7. They made you think, created connections with your characters, did not make you listen to some horrendous voice acting; which enabled you to create one in your head when reading their text (this is an automatic response, it's not like I, for example, sat there and thought of what voice to use for this character, it just happens if the game is made well enough to immerse yourself in). Somewhere the developers lost this immersion for shiny 3D graphics.
FPS has fallen into this void as well. This manly applies to motion and I'm not referring to lag. A smooth fast feel is why CS and older Quake games always warm the old school gamers heart versus some new Call of Duty or Battlefield. Complexity of movement is severely lacking. I understand some games and gamers alike like to go for the realism; but at the same time if 5 bullets go into your leg in a "realistic" shooter (most anyway), you're still running after a couple second pause. This movement issues is what plagues CS-S versus CS 1.6 to the really talented players. It just feels kind-of sluggish and seems as if the skill level is way off. Most CS 1.6 players I know hop in a CS-S server and are fully capable of destroying it.
The main basis of this arguement is that a heavy focus on graphics is hindering gameplay and creativity. This easily ties back into MUD's and WoW, though WoW is above many other recent MMORPG's in this respect where the focus on dumping money into graphics instead of game development has hindered the game.
Fun > Gameplay > Graphics > Sound = Great game (assuming Fun isnt a low value)
Somewhere this was lost into something like
Graphics > Sound >= Gameplay > Fun
and that's just sad - Luckily my assesment for WoW's design intent is:
Gameplay > Fun > Graphics > Sound
This is probably why my X-Box 360 is full of downloaded Live Arcade games and I own only Guitar Hero 2 aside from that. Who truely gives a damn about graphics - AT THE COST OF FUN.
