It's OK to Be Single in Your 30s ... Unless You're a Girl
Jul 3rd 2010 7:55PM (Lemondrop)And the comeback is that I am single and will always been... Mutually happily married for a decade, and had a long line of women before that.
'I Want to Cheat on My Husband, but I Haven't Met the Right Guy'
Mar 25th 2010 5:30AM (Lemondrop)Please do not try an open relationship or any sort of "poly" relationship. In those types of relationships communication and keeping your promises are 100x more important. Slipping even a little from the arrangement and it is considered the largest of all betrayals. Much worse than "monogamous cheating".
Best work the singles bars/online singles sites as a single, or go find yourself a pimp. There is good money to be made. One of my Exes and a couple of my friends are or have been hookers in the past, and the perks are better than the media makes them out to be.
If you have the balls to make good with your husband, you will find that you have probably lost the "falling in love rush". That normally only lasts the first two or three years. What people chose to do after the hormones recede is what makes them a good or a bad person. You SHOULD have built a long term relationship by this point... one based on friendship, trust and communication. Seems to me you were too wrapped up in your own ego to reach out to another human being during your 2.5 years together.
Apple retaliates: requests US import ban on Nokia phones
Jan 17th 2010 3:11AM (Engadget)And yet you yourself claim in this thread that Apple is an opn company that wil not block other companies from using their systems... Now can YOU explain how Apple is being 100% open by limiting the capabilities and usefulness of other companies software by deliberately and openly shutting down multitasking for all software except their own?
And to be honest, whether it is a hardware flaw, an OS flaw, or a deliberate move by the parent company, when you cut away the BS you have a simple situation... for all intents and purposes the iPhone will not multitask... which is the same end result to the end user as it can not multitask.
Is there any way you can embarrass yourself any more than you already have?
Apple retaliates: requests US import ban on Nokia phones
Jan 17th 2010 3:00AM (Engadget)Tell that to Power Computing, Motorola, APS Technologies, Radius, DayStar Digital, Tatung, MaxxBoxx, UMAX and Pystar.
That's just the shortlist of hardware companies... do not get me started off on software companies Apple killed in unfair business practices because they wanted to take over their markets.
Paul, you tell others not to buy into the hype... but you seem to have bankrupted yourself buying shares in Apple propaganda. Either that or you are too young and ignorant to remember the long long history of shitty things Apple has done to other companies. Apple are now less open than Microsoft... and that is a very scary situation for everyone involved.
Apple retaliates: requests US import ban on Nokia phones
Jan 17th 2010 2:53AM (Engadget)Thats the story of Apples history... from copying without innovating the WIMP interface (other companies followed Apple within six months but had features like colour, resizing drag bars and many other "new features"), through to today where Apple claim to invent many new UI things... and strangely 90% of them come from the Amiga... yeah, from Automator, to Core systems to touch screens (The Amiga had touch screens in 1985... go cry Apple fans).
Apples whole history as far back as their first computer... Woz loves to claim to have built the first personal computer... but tell that to the English companies who already had them on the market. Apple fanatics have memories shorter than the average goldfish so believe it completey when Apple says they invented something that existed years earlier.

Nov 20th 2009 3:29PM (Joystiq)Things are not as cut and dry as the Joystiq writer and their legal adviser claim, and a lot more complex than the American readers believe it is.
The situation outside of America is a little more pro consumer. Many countries have consumer laws that state that "the goods must be suitable for the intended use". The only place the consumer laws were tested in a court battle was in Australia (though MANY countries have the same basic law), and Sony who took the case lost spectacularly in court when they tried to sue the "pirates".
There may be little reason to Mod a unit in USA, but outside USA, things get a lot more messy. If you purchase a region locked DVD, a region locked Game from an online store, more often than not that store is based in USA, and the wrong region. The DVD/game will not work unless you mod your hardware. You also have many advertised games taking up to six months to be released for the "European Market". The Europeans need a lot of translations, so it supposedly takes a lot of time. Unfortunately, most of the rest of the world falls under "Europe" for distribution even if they are literally on the other side of the world and ONLY speak English. Finally, there are a number of games every year that NEVER and will NEVER be released for the "European Market". The decision is made never to release these games for all sorts of reasons. The only way to play these games in many cases (I do not know about XBox 360 because I will never again purchase anything made by Microsoft) is to mod your console.
This does not cover the many other reasons you may want to play a pirated game. Such as you have young children who destroy game disks, so keeping the original locked away while the children are destroying a copy is a good idea. Microsoft does nothing at all to protect your investment in the software. They d not have anti scratch coatings on DVDs, they use DVD, one of the most vulnerable formats to child abuse in existence, they only license software to you so if the format is damaged by children you should still own your license, but Microsoft do not offer free media swaps or any other way for you to continue to use the software you licensed.
Simply Joystiq, to claim this is cut and dry is CHILDISH! How much is Microsoft paying Joystiq for this hatchet job today?

Sep 18th 2009 7:54PM (Engadget)I would have to disagree with you on the timing. Apple used to be an evil company in the '80s that loved closed systems, lockout and high prices.
Apple became an open company in the '90s allowing easier access for programmers, licensing Mac compatibles and engineering some of the more revolutionary Apple products.
In the late '90s Apple killed off Mac compatibles, and locked down much of the system again. During this time they also engineered the iPod which was a completely closed system and worked on tying it to iTunes.
If you know your Apple history, you will know that the evil periods of Apples history coincide with Steve Jobs position as top dog. The non evil period is when Steve had been given the boot.
