My year long quest to defeat Grandia 2's (almost) final boss

Mar 29th 2012 8:58AM (Joystiq)
The game I put down for a while was Xenosaga, I can't remember where it specifically was...but I hadn't quite grasped the Boost System so the game was constantly kicking my butt. Finally figured it out (and just in time for Ep 2 to come out).

Yeah. It's all Microsoft...

Obsidian missed Fallout: New Vegas Metacritic bonus by one point

@Bubbameister33 I must've mistaken Metacritic for a different site. I thought this was one that was based off user reviews (the one that you frequently see getting bombed when a controversial story breaks regarding a game.

Obsidian missed Fallout: New Vegas Metacritic bonus by one point

84? How convenient. Anybody else picturing a pool of Bethesda paid spammers nailing the metacritic with low scores for this reason.

Report: Obsidian hit with layoffs; South Park team affected, future next-gen title canceled

Mar 14th 2012 11:10AM (Joystiq)
I'm sorry, but if you're in a situation where you're firing people that have just started within the past week (or the previous day) then you've got some MAJOR issues that aren't going to resolve themselves anytime soon.

Not to mention that if word starts getting out (as it should) about that kind of BS going on, Obsidian could quickly find itself having a hard time finding quality talent.

Because that person is now well and truly screwed. They've likely turned down other jobs and passed up other opportunities, and now they've got nothing. After a day.

South Park RPG is a feel-good game about fitting in, and more details

The "new kid" approach works great here, as it allows you to actually have a "role" to play without stepping on the toes of existing characters.

As far as Larping turned real, that fits in with what I expected when I first heard about this. The kids get sucked into a bigger than life adventure likely entirely by accident. Though I wouldn't be surprised if the new kid ends up being tied to it.

Hoping they continue down the path of a JRPG instead of the more western FPS styles we've seen.

EA: Online Pass can expire for new-game purchases, but it shouldn't

Dec 5th 2011 9:56AM (Joystiq)
What's going to be more entertaining is when EA starts shutting down servers for games that have Online Passes.

They've already eliminated the argument about being a means of combating second-hand sales by partnering with GameStop to include codes with used titles, might as well shoot the other defense about using Pass funds to support servers in the foot as well.

Not that they didn't do that already by revealing that the $15 million from their Online Passes last year was "found money" and "pure profit".

Which again leaves me wondering...why do people defend this again?

Obsidian heading on up to South Park for PS3/Xbox 360 RPG [update: PC too!]

Given the show's recent trend, I imagine part of the plot will involve one or more of the core four being totally uninterested in pursuing the adventure. Perhaps even at first thinking it's the adults (or other members of the core four) completely blowing things out of proportion.

Also, if they don't include an Aeris-esque Kenny death I will call the game an immediate fail. It's just too golden an opportunity.

Seriously, just give me a straight up turn-based South Park RPG and I will be all over this....

The ability to adjust game settings on the fly is nice, but "Pause" "Resume" is pointless when you're holding a controller...and "Reload" "Grenade" are (as he put it) neat but not practical.

I couldn't bring myself to care enough to watch beyond that. So I missed anything actually groundbreaking you'll have to let me know.

Call of Duty Elite still 'intermittent,' annual memberships bumped to 13 months

"Call fo Duty Support >" ....?

Is that typo on the actual service page or is this some parody image I'm not getting?
