PS3 Poll Police: Another firmware rumor, another poll

Jun 2nd 2008 11:27AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Whatever the 2.4 update brings us, the only thing I'm certain of is that we'll have people complaining about what it didn't include...

Brett Ratner could be working on God of War movie

I felt that way about Chris Tucker movies prior to even seeing one...

Namco Bandai revives Splatterhouse for 2009

May 30th 2008 2:08PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Good old Nightmare Creatures, that was exactly the game I thought of when reading about some of the features in this title. We'll see how this revival turns out, right now expectations are low so they won't have a hard time surprising me.

Itagaki: Ninja Gaiden Sigma is 'no good'

May 22nd 2008 12:05AM (Joystiq)
Give me one example of anyone from Naughty Dog hating on a game someone from their own team developed. I'm all for Itagaki saying whatever he wants about other games, that's his deal, but here he's just showing how big an ass he really his.

Haze initial reviews are not promising

May 20th 2008 11:06AM (Joystiq Playstation)
Pretty much what I expected, although I think the IGN score is a bit extra-low. It's nothing special, but it's a solid enough FPS title that I'll probably pick up when it comes down in price, or at the very least rent and play through it. I'm still interested in seeing how the rebel gameplay turned out, and even though it wasn't brining much new to the genre it seemed good enough to give it a spin. The co-op was pretty fun, and would make for a good way to kill a few hours with friends.

Seems like another case of initial hype killing a game, and then when it gets average scores everyone acts as though it's total crap. Not sure why we've become a group who seems to hate on anything that doesn't get a 9/10, I've played some fairly unenjoyable dreck that received good scores. Hell, we talk about how the Timesplitters series was awesome, but the average scores for those games were in the mid-eighties...

Deal of the Day: 2-for-price-of-1 sale at Best Buy

May 12th 2008 11:15PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Agree with the other two, at least in regards to more recent-older releases. There were a few movies released at first that were pretty poor transfers (Full Metal Jacket for one) that were re-released and look much better, and generally the titles released lately, old catalog or new, look great on Blu.

PS3 Fanboy hands-on: Haze

May 7th 2008 4:16PM (Joystiq Playstation)
Agree that it's not anything amazing, but I think it has potential to be a better than average shooter. I'm really hoping that the Rebel side of the game will be a more strategic experience, tempering the run & gun of the Mantel troops with a more methodical approach, all centered around Nectar.
At the least, it's a solid shooter that could be something more, and is already a fun online experience. If anyone cares to read more of my thoughts on the demo, I've posted them here: http://www.tripletags.com/post.asp?id=549

Blu-ray movie releases for the week of May 4

May 5th 2008 2:50AM (Joystiq Playstation)
I haven't seen twister since middle school, they used to play it whenever it was storming too bad for us to outside for recess. We all piled into the auditorium and watched it on the projector they had setup.

Looking back on it, that's sorta screwed up to do to a bunch of kids. Watching a movie about killer storms while a storm is rolling through outside...

PS3 Poll Police: Did you succumb to Rockstar's GTA IV "fix"?

May 5th 2008 2:42AM (Joystiq Playstation)
I haven't experienced the freeze either, had it hang while loading the other night but that seems to be a whole different, and much more temporary issue. Been fine since, and was fine before that.

Motorstorm 2 officially adopts Pacific Rift as subtitle

4-player if I remember correctly.
