Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD can't 'Transfar' to Vita
Mar 27th 2012 1:04PM (Joystiq)But most who get a Vita will have a PS3? That's just conjecture, right? You don't happen to have figures and facts to substantiate the statement, do you?

Mar 25th 2012 2:51PM (Joystiq)I certainly hope that your optimism rings true. Good workers should have more options.
Rumor: Sony shutting down SOCOM dev Zipper Interactive
Mar 25th 2012 2:48PM (Joystiq)Oh. Now you've done it. You've exercised a bit of common decency, concern for your fellow people, and a bit of that selfless foresight that is often ridiculed by the modern generation of Randists.
Kid Icarus: Uprising's 3DS stand holds up to scrutiny
Mar 21st 2012 4:35PM (Joystiq)Please, don't conflate the circle pad with THIS abomination. The circle pad added something worth while to the 3DS, and would've been a MUCH BETTER integrated option for Kid Icarus than this stand to which it is now being compared.
Circle pad still retains some of the portability, and offers much more in return. This stand, on the other hand, completely hampers the hand-held experience into dirt.

Mar 20th 2012 1:27PM (Joystiq)Industry-driven bubbles, eh? Can't explain 'em to passionate apologists who'd eat Publisher crap for breakfast, and can't keep them from blowing the hell up.
Sad.
I think Trent Reznor more or less had the right idea when he condemned Universal for screwing the consumer and encouraged fans to just pirate his music. Lol.
Person A has talent. Person B decides to make some money by pretending to market and promote the talent of Person A. . . something Person A could more or less do on their own, but probably not at an alarmingly unrealistic pace. You're right, going from nothing to million dollars is just too much too fast and this is why we end up in these situations.

Mar 20th 2012 1:17PM (Joystiq)Well said. . . they simply want to generate more sales from the SAME unit of items. Used tax. Nice.
If I buy a game for 40 dollars, and sell it to you for 10. . . that's OUR business. EA's got their price. But their argument will extend to the notion that they somehow lost YOUR sale because I was there to sell my copy once I was tired of their product.
I am really disturbed by how this drive for absolute, endless profit is now being used to stigmatise the used market culture. It's is absolute illogical to assume that the used market has no bearing on the actual market. If consumer John Doe is told that they can no longer resell one of the titles they purchased at full price, then that might really influence John Doe's decision to bother buying the title in the first place.

Mar 20th 2012 1:09PM (Joystiq)I like the angle you're taking on this, but scraping second-hand sales is just not good. . . for anyone. I'm a consumer. This idea punishes me if I wanted to trade in.
Why not simply agree on a cut of the used sales and end the drama at that point?
Transformers Prime game coming to Nintendo platforms
Mar 16th 2012 12:57PM (Joystiq)And I find that it's contagious! Overexposure to the environment actually causes fully mature adults to momentarily regress into a similarly juvenile and lax frame of mind that is purged of all inhibition and worry of consequence, driven by an unrelenting need to experience 'grown up' in this romantic notion of edgy experience.
Although some paleolithic romantics would argue that the modern concept of growing up is -- if anything -- detrimental to the nature of an active organism that must learn to curb its enthusiasm for all things fun.
Apologise for the digression. As you were. . .

Mar 9th 2012 8:35PM (Joystiq)Lol. Nice one.
So far, so good: Why the Vita rises where the PSP fell
Mar 3rd 2012 2:21PM (Joystiq)3DS' launch line-up wasn't great. Half of the games looked like poor DS concepts that were amped up and ported to a superior machine. With the arrival of recent giants like Resident Evil Revelations, MGS 3D, and others, it's actually starting to show its real potential as a solid piece of hardware.
In contrast, Vita's come out with some excellent titles that capitalise on its core element: strong hardware. It successfully -- on launch -- shows games that were actually PS3 titles (Ninja Gaiden Sigma), without any compromise. Care to reflect on how poorly PSP managed to capture the PS2 feel? Vita successfully narrows the gap between its own technology and that of the home consoles by a huge margin that sometimes, the difference is barely evident, and that is a big deal and a step that plays towards the strength of Sony's handheld philosophy. Why try to be like the DS or the SMARTPHONES, when it can pay lip-service to both those markets, and focus on its own niche as a robustly powerful handheld?
Yeah. I was always more of the outlier and non-mainstream with my leaning towards a more console-oriented experience on the handheld. But hey, at least Vita didn't disappoint in that department. So for those that want to touch their Katamari's or play Lumines or whatever-the-hell, they've got their outlet on the console. Meanwhile, I can finally get to enjoy console-grade games on the Vita with little to NO compromise -- something the PSP couldn't execute.
