I don't think any advertiser, no matter what platform or industry, would expect any ad to have a 25%+ conversion rate - which they would need to make a $0.25 cost per click viable for a $0.99 app.
Most pay-per-click campaigns, iAd or not, would be thrilled with a 2% *click through* rate - not even conversion rate.
Seems like iAds are better left for the "big boys" - like trying to convince people to buy a Nissan Leaf :) - much easier to be sustainable when your product price in the tens of thousands.
