Gamecock reveals Section 8

"Section 8" in USA Military terms is when someone goes crazy and is kicked out of the service. With that in mind, this game could get quite interesting.

...because EVERY game is better on the Xbox 360.

Update brings better VGA picture

I decided to check it out on my desktop monitor... Samsung SyncMaster 712N. It's nothing special, but certainly better than the RCA TV from 1985 I've been using. :)

Anyways, when playing around on the dashboard I saw no difference, so I have it te ultimate visual "darkness" test from backwards compatibility: Doom 3.

First, let me say, I never thought of my image as being washed out - I never even thought it was too high of gamma or anything else. And I still don't, really. But after playing with these settings, I can see their benefits.

On "Expanded" verything seemed TOO dark - like playing Doom 3 for the first time all over again! On the plus side, the colors were vibrant. Intermediate seems to be just right, but it basically feels like a bit of a contrast adjustment, is all - nothing I couldn't have done using the monitor's own menu.

So, I guess these are nice, handy options - but nothing that a person couldn't do on their own, if they took the time to play with their monitor's settings, instead of just using the "auto" button that we find so handy these days.

Double Dragon kicks XBLA next week?

May 6th 2007 2:41AM (Joystiq Xbox)
#4 (Scott): What arcade games cost less NOW than they did at launch? I thought all arcade prices stayed static, UNLIKE retail games?

Anyways, I wouldn't pay a point over 400 for this - but I need to make up my mind by midweek, because I have sort of wanted this for awhile, but now that it's here, I'm not even sure if I have the five bucks to spend.

Because we love you, free Pac-Man from X3F

I had this on my Commodore 64. I think I used to get violent after only like the third level - I was so frustrated! But to bring it back on the 360? Maybe I'll make it to level 4! :)

I'm more for Sci-Fi than Fantasy games, but regardless, I want to try this game! Simply because of the graphics. The backgrounds, those buildings... the texturing is BEAUTIFUL. I can't wait to try this!

New XBLM TV and movie content, oh my!

As a side note - why the heck would MS let Game Herd put their PS3 and Wii 'launch specials' on the marketplace? I'm all for being the nice guy, but ugh... but, I suppose as long as they're not free and MS can make a buck, why not? :)

Beer League is surprisingly funny if you like crude, blue collar, off the cuff, New England humor, and Artie Lange.

Quake III Team Arena on XBLA?

Apr 10th 2007 3:35PM (Joystiq Xbox)
This has to be some sort of new release MS wants to put out there this summer... like the "platinum" series, but with other games... perhaps like a "HISTORIC" series. I say this because I can't imagine downloading this from the Arcade. It's simply too big. Even with the 150MB limit! Quake III was somewhere in the neighborhood of ~500MB. To make it only 150, they would only include like 2 maps, and a third of the playable characters.

Then if they went on and charged for the additional downloads (characters & maps).

I'm kind of leery about what this might be. I just can't believe it's going to be an arcade title!
