Homebrew typing application for PSP pops up

Jan 20th 2007 9:59PM (Engadget)
Wow, this is so fricking old. I had support for TWO ir keyboards in PSPVNC back when I still was writing software for PSP (This keyboard and another).

So, what'd you get?

Dec 26th 2006 11:13PM (Engadget HD)
I got a DS Lite, New Super Mario Bros., Mario& Luigi: Partners In Time, Action Replay DS, 1GB SD card, SuperCard SD, Xbox 360 (Premium), XM car kit, 4 cooking related books, FF:APOC shirt, a IIO cd, GuildWars Nightfall, and a Belkin F5D7050 (RT73) 54G USB adapter.

Oh, and as Wilmer Valderama would say: "$100 cash moneys"

How much have you spent on a digital living room?

Dec 9th 2006 2:06AM (PVR Wire)
$100 MSI K7N2 Delta + Athlon XP 2400+
$100 1GB DDR PC3200
$90 PVR150MCE
$50 Belkin 54G USB adapter (RT73 chip)
$30 GeForce MX4400
$0 KnoppMyth

I'm moderately happy with this setup, in the past I used firewire to capture from my DCT6200 cable box, but 5c/HDCP kinda killed that for me. I am usually able to stream video from my mythbox over the wireless at about 7mbit, but lately I've been stuck at 3mbit with no real reason why. MythWeb is very useful, and I've used it to setup recordings from friend's houses in the past.

iPhone details 'confirmed' by Kevin Rose

This is just kevin trying to make himself famous. A blindfolded drunk throwing darts across a crowded bar would still be more popular than kevin.

Hitachi to introduce DZHS500A hybrid DVD / hard drive camcorder

Nov 28th 2006 11:00PM (Engadget)
Typo: video to SD and your drive (and even SD)
Did you emphasize the fact it supports recording to SD enough?

So instead of recording to a replaceable medium that is easy to fubar, it records to a non-replaceable medium that is also easy to fubar. I hope this bugger has sudden motion detection and a fast-parking laptop drive. And I bet it will be hard to replace that harddrive with a larger one later.

Plus those mini dvds hold next to nothing. I wish the folks at RED Digital Cinema would come up with a prosumer camera that did 720p to removeable harddrive, and add in the ability to record to any firewire hdd box.

Guild Wars beta testing to begin in China

The only "beta" thing about this is the translation.
I hope that this doesn't end up with spam in-game about buying gold. Its bad enough you can buy 100 plat (100k gold) on ebay for $7 now. Gold farming for real world profit is wrong. Real-money-trade contributes to terrorism I expect will be the next thing out of the DHS.

Best free firewall for Windows? - Ask DLS

Nov 6th 2006 8:55PM (Download Squad)
Zonealarm is ok for some folks, I install it for my friends that arn't techies. I personally use Sygate, but it annoys me at times. Zonealarm did some very not-nice things last time I used it myself (calling home, wasting ram, crashing windows all together). Software firewalls are good for keeping some things from getting out, but easy to circumvent. Biggest reason I see is to keep applications from calling home that have no reason to (Nero, I'm staring at you!) Problem with all software firewalls is interaction with games. You goto run your game for the first time, and up pops the firewall dialog and boom, your game crashes (if you are lucky), or windows bombs and you are stuck rebooting or waiting for things to settle down.
