What kind of idiot would fire Fran Kranz? That guy is brilliant.

Casey can leave tomorrow with his head held high. He's had a lot of exposure - probably more than he deserves, if I'm being honest- and he doesn't need to be tied down to Idol's punitive contractual obligations.

Same for Crystal. Winning Idol would be a millstone for her as a creative artist.

Winning Idol and getting the contract would be the best thing for Lee. I think it would give him the confidence to evolve as a performer.

That said, I do think that Idol is playing with the audio feeds for each contestant, and tweaking them to get the desired voting results. Tonight, there seemed to be some really strange things going on with the mike on Casey's first performance, and it's well known that the stage performance sounds substantially different than the broadcasted version.

It's a ridiculously fun show

Baze is the good guy with no responsibilities to this point; we'll see how well he does the first time he has to tell her 'No' on something major.

In terms of the the dynamics of the Cate/Lux relationship, i think its a realistic representation... it might feel off because Shiri Appleby was a huge miscast on this pretty terrific show. On paper, Cate is a character who does stupid things, but you still have a degree of empathy for her. Appleby's abrasive performance seems forced, artificial. In her hands, Cate is virtually unlikable. I find I have no feelings at all for the character, and that's fairly dangerous for the pivotal role in the show.

What is up with the 'Today' show lately?... Segments are so rushed and random. Is that what people want in morning tv? And every time I tune in, that Hoda creature seems to be drinking... it's 8 in the morning...

I'm not sure what it is about this show, but I really like it, and look forward to it every week.

Baze's friend - whose name I also forgot to get - his advice always seems on the money. I'm just glad that someone finally listened to him. Question: How did he know that Lux was there in that park? Did it feel inappropriate that he was talking to her alone in the park... it doesn't seem that the two characters have interacted enough for this scene to be plausible.

This was probably one of the best episodes of the season so far. Everyone was really on form - even Phil, whose Micheal Scott like antics usually make me cringe. They only used one of the kids, and Kristen Schaal's performance was nicely understated. The episode felt a little less like a three ring circus, and it allowed the actors a little more room to shine.

Cam and Manny were the standouts for me this week.
