WRUP: retro crap and Gears of War edition

Jun 15th 2007 2:05PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Since the Halo 3 beta ended, a lot of the gamers on my friend's list have been playing Gears again so that's probably what I'll be playing this weekend. :-)

And does anyone else notice a difference in the roadie run? I don't stick to cover as often as I thought I would...

New Gears of War achievements rundown

Jun 14th 2007 3:39PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Hey guys,
Just wanted to know if the sticky roadie-run problem has been fixed? I won't be able to play tonight so I'm curious if anyone has noticed a difference crouch-running around the maps.

Thanks!

Next Gears update will bring more achievements

May 25th 2007 2:20PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Since the game launched, Epic's been really generous and timely with the updates and DLC -- Annex has been a great addition and the new maps are definitely worth the $10.

Thanks, guys!

Now, can ya' fix the whole "host advantage"-thing? kthnxbye.

Playstation convert talks about his 360

Apr 25th 2007 5:46PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I was exactly the same way.

I was grinding along, playing FFXII on my PS2 when a friend of mine showed off his brand new 360 and copy of Gears of War.

I was smitten.

Once by birthday came around, I got myself a Premium console and Gears and have been shooting up a storm since.

Post update Gears problems surface

Apr 11th 2007 2:39PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Newsflash: Glitchers suck.

All the arguments for pro-glitching is moot. You wanna glitch with friends and piss them off, fine. If you glitch with a bunch of people just trying to have a decent game, you suck.

End of story. kthnxbye.

Xbox 360 controller keyboard out in the wild

Apr 9th 2007 3:50PM (Joystiq Xbox)
"Do any of the wireless keyboards out there work with the 360?"

I use a wireless MS keyboard for sending quick notes and such. It works quite well (I plug the USB cable for the wireless transmitter/receiver in the rear of the console) but the range sucks. I can't recall the specific model, but I'd suggest looking for a keyboard with a lot longer range -- instead being able to type on the coffee table, I have the move the keyboard to the edge of the sofa, closest to the receiver.

MS defends the $179 120GB HDD

Apr 4th 2007 2:40PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I do agree that the pricing follows the other 360 components. But I still think it's pricey for a hard drive that's pretty restrictive when it comes to backing up data.

And uh, having a MS employee defending a MS product doesn't do much for credibility's sake, y'know?

GoW's new Annex gametype to feature respawning [update 1]

Apr 4th 2007 1:41PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I do agree that the intensity does go down (a lot) when you know that you'll respawn after you die, rather than being cautious before you run out into the open, guns blazing.

But I can't complain about new game types -- for free, no less.

MS Enhances Console Warranty too

Apr 3rd 2007 5:40PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Being a new 360 owner (as of January of this year), I'm glad that MS is taking steps to alleviate the problems and issues with getting the consoles fixed and shipped.

And while it still sux that the console is prone to "red-ring-of-death" syndrome, this good news for your peace of mind.

Oh the horror! Elite to use HDMI 1.2 not 1.3

Apr 2nd 2007 2:28PM (Joystiq Xbox)
Wow.

As if paying for ludicrously expensive hard drive and dealing with restrictive data management wasn't enough, MS couldn't be bothered to use the newest version of HDMI?
