Keep in mind that the comics of Sonic the Hedgehog have gone off on their own little tangent, as they were originally based on the Saturday morning TV show's production notes, not the game series proper. They're about as related to the Sonic games as the Pokémon manga is; the same characters, but clearly a different take on their characterization and setting.

I'm actually most concerned about the Pokemon franchise. There was a big jump from RBY to GSC, and a similar change of formula hasn't happened yet. I'd love to see a real-time main series game or even just a game that takes place between RBY and GSC's generations, as they're the only ones that have a definite prequel-sequel relationship.

This isn't the 20th Anniversary issue; the logo's just there because it's a year-long celebration. Last month's was the true anniversary.
