Rumor: Gran Turismo 5 coming Christmas 2009?

Dec 2nd 2008 4:29PM (Joystiq Playstation)

BT plans 100Mbps UK broadband service by 2012, Gigabit speeds possible

Jul 15th 2008 7:50AM (Engadget)
If you read what BT said they only intend to put fibre into 1 million homes, the rest will still be copper last mile, so what's the betting that those 1 million homes are selection but only in London? It would be good if some of the other ISP's clubbed together set up a JV, put fibre through the sewers and then sold bandwidth. It would be good if BT had some real competition, and faced a sharp drop in profits by supplying an outdated network, it might force them to do something. It would also be good if the government mandated that a certain percentage of next gen connections must be to rural areas, to stop people like BT thinking that if they give London + home counties a high speed network, that is job done and they don't need to do anything for the rest of the country.
Also who wants virgin medias traffic shaped, spyware ad injected rubbish? bring back telewest I say.

World to blame: Mario & Sonic Olympics sells 5 million units

Apr 22nd 2008 8:56AM (Joystiq)
I have it - and I enjoy playing it, not by myself ( I did that once to unlock all the events, single player doesn't have much sticking power ) , but when my friends come round, and we get four player races going, it is good fun. It's even funnier when the 1st place player has to drink 3 fingers, 2nd 2 and 3rd one, levels the playing field out after a while.

It may not be the hardcore gamers game, but the reason it sold ~ 5million copies is because ~ 4 million people don't like hardcore games, and think gta4, halo3,gt5, etc are rubbish, and for some people this is the sort of gaming experience they want. Personally i enjoy both types and for satisfying gaming experience with people who don't like gaming, mario and sonic is great.

Harmonix dev tackles Rock Band 'euro pricing flamefest'

Apr 15th 2008 10:37AM (Joystiq)
The whole UK/France/Germany needing different discs/manuals is a rubbish excuse. There is no reason they can't do what every other company does, and make a manual that is 15 pages instead of 5 and contains all 3 languages. We are used to game discs having 4 languages selectable, and the same for the manuals, and the extra cost associated with printing would be more than saved with the decrease in assembly and shipping cost by being able to do it all in china (or shipping unpackaged units from china an assembling in eastern europe)

What does the future hold for supercars with new fuel economy rules?

Dec 20th 2007 5:09PM (Autoblog)
lotus elise does 0-60 in 4.7 , and has a combined mpg of 34.1 (in us gallons)

Golf gti tdi would be fine as well (under 7 seconds over the mpg limit,)

you just need to learn to not put stupid 3,4,5,6 litre engines in your cars, much better to take a 1.8 and then make the car light, gets more mpg, better acceleration, and more fun to drive
