DS Daily: $179.99

Jan 18th 2009 8:10PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Considering most people already own a DS of some sort, paying that much to get one with a couple more features (but pretty useless ones, imo) seems like a waste of money. If I had that money to spend on a gaming device, i'd probably buy a PSP. Seems of much greater benefit to have a DS lite and a PSP than to have a DS lite and DSi. I don't see where the value is.

I use my own name.

Can occasionally feel weird, as my head still refers to the little blonde dude in green as 'link' but yeah.

DS Fanboy Review: N+

Aug 29th 2008 9:31PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
Same.

I tried Bangai-O and found it far too difficult for me. I understand this is largely because I don't play many of those sorts of games, but the tutorials were very poor at actually teaching me what to do and how to play.

n+ is the complete opposite. Virtually anyone can pick it up, regardless of their gaming background. Yet it's still challenging. And fun.

It's also perfect for portable gaming because it's so bitesized. And if you die, you just go again. No wasted time, and no life penalty. The challenge is in the level itself.

DS Daily: The year of third parties

Aug 2nd 2008 8:56PM (Joystiq Nintendo)
It would be nice for nintendo to show the DS the love they used to. I mean, it's the reason they're so cashed up...

I'm currently playing Final Fantasy IV, and before that FFTA2. Which is funny, because they're the first two final fantasy games i've ever played. But very enjoyable and very polished.

And the games i'm most anticipating are third party, also. Viva pinata and elebits. But there's really not much nintendo stuff on the horizon. Disappointing.

Gaming to Go: The World Ends with You

Jul 26th 2008 8:11AM (Joystiq Nintendo)
This is SO not a game for playing on the go. Mostly because of the frequent inane chatter the characters get into. On more than one occasion have I found myself shoving my DS into my bag with it still on (in sleep mode) just because i sat there for minutes skipping the dialog just so i could save it and grew fed up. You begin to wish there was a 'shut up, just let me save' button.

And yeah, i found top screen play would often result in simple button mashing. Which is kind of pointless.
