It's not anything spectacular; it just works.

Mar 4th 2006 9:28PM (TUAW.com)The store itself was a little underwhelming for us because our only visit to any Apple store to this point was the Michigan Avenue store when we were in Chicago for Thanksgiving. All the same, the welcome was really nice, although slightly embarrassing. There was probably one employee for every two or three of us that were in the store at the time, and when those of us who were first came in, they clapped and cheered for us.
As far as products are concerned, I wasn't terribly impressed by the MBP. They had a 1.83GHz model on display and it beachballed about 10 times in the short time I bothered to mess with it. I didn't stay in the store long since I didn't have much money to spend. I only came away with one obligatory purchase. I bought a set of Belkin TuneWraps. These are lots better than our previous Smart Wraps because they have holes for stuffing the earbuds into instead of them dangling about like the SmartWraps had done. I might also add that I had to get a coworker to switch shifts with me today in order to go. Just so happens he is a Mac guy, too, so when I showed up for work in my shirt he realized why I needed to switch.
In response to some of the comments above. The Willow Bend store is technically in Plano, not Dallas. So, Knox is the first in Dallas. While I realize how close the Knox Henderson store is to Highland Park, it's a rather different clientele that shops at Highland Park, and the foot traffic is important. One shouldn't underestimate the price point most of those people have for impulse purchases either. Social phenomenon? Absolutely.

Feb 21st 2006 1:06AM (TUAW.com)If it's a bad habit, I have my system saddled by so many utilities and gizmos that even with 1.25GB RAM, I rarely have more than 100MB free. Lots of background apps such as Growl and Quicksilver, iScrobbler, GrowlClock, GrowliChat, and on and on and on.
I also tend to let my battery run down to reserve really often. Not sure if that's bad either, but it seems irresponsible to me somehow.
Perhaps the worst happens are those that we don't realize are bad.
Oh, and I very rarely (read: never) backup.
