Juan your logic makes no sense... Why would someone pay $60 for a football, basketball, soccer, or hockey game. There are millions who watch basball. It is still the most spectated sport in America and this game is great. I met someone from England who loves this game and will be getting it next week.
I think the better question would be... How does the 360 sales compare to the PS2 in the same amount of time it was marked down to $199... I think what you would find is the 360 is not hitting marks even close. Of course it has two higher price points but logically that means it should be selling even better since it has a price point that is attractive to not only hard core but casual gamers. Do you really think the PS3 would be selling at it's current point if it were $100 less? This is really absurd that we are comparing year to year. SONY has no reason to be upset about their numbers. Obvioulsy we will see a price drop sometime this year but the question will be when. SONY would be in a losing state if consumers were not buying games and sales were down considerably. But in this economy at the same price point with over a dozen million sellers for 2008 I don't think SONY is worried. Actually anyone who is aware of economics would know the PS3 is actually in a very good position for 2009...
The audience for a game of this calibur could be astronomical if the mainstream gets a good whiff... We of course know about this game because we are on the internets. Although the millions who don't go on sites like this need to be exposed to this game. A superbowl ad would be the icing on the cake. It would be the target audience for this type of game. Let's see how much business sense SCEA has when it comes to their biggest game for the PS3...
I find it funny how some of you constantly complain about HOME. I am not a big fan of it but I still believe it's a great feature. If you ever decide to visit you will notice there are plenty of people hanging out. It obvioulsy has a strong following. Many just like to hang out and socialize. HOME will add many features over the coming year but I don't think it will ever be what some of you want. I like many of you would rather spend my PS3 time playing games.
Why should some story of a Buzz expansion become a story of Obama...
It shows your ignorance when you talk about rights being taken away... The past eight years we have been giving away are liberties to "keep our selves safe from terroism". That time needs to end. Our country is in one of the worst economic downturns in history. We need hope. We need a leader who will give people hope.
Where do some of you get SONY is tanking on the PS3??? I don't see any indication of that being the case. I don't see SONY selling first party divisions or cutting games from their budget. The only thing SONY is losing on is the console itself. They are making more revenue off the PSN and the movie store which are sources of revenue they didn't have with the PS2.
The ten year life span is feasible. It will be interesting to see when they talk about the PS4...
I don't understand why some are so threatened by variety. That has been the way of the Playstation since the PSone came out. That is why I love the Playstation. You get variety. SONY is all about expanding the market and not just trying to attract one type of gamer. If you don't like it trade in your PS3...
I really think SONY is competing with itself as of right now. They know that they have no way to compete with either console at their price point. So set goals and hope you hit them. 700k is in no way bad for December when you look at the number by itself.
This year may see a big price drop and it may not... I am figuring by 2010 we will probably be seeing a PS3 slim released by mid to late in the year. When SONY can get that out we will probably be seeing a $199 price point that will make them very competitive. Needless to say I think most PS2 owners have not even moved to the next gen. I am sure there are millions waiting on their favorite franchises to hit like Gran Turismo or Final Fantasy... When that time comes I am sure we will be dealing with a lower price point...
