Gamestop shenanigans sell open games as 'new'

Mar 25th 2007 4:57PM (Joystiq)
"Why can't they just create a cardboard mock-up of the box to display? My local EB is always filled with cardboard advertisements, etc., so it doesn't seem like it would be completely unreasonable. I mean, from the comments here it's obvious that the practice does bother many consumers.

Also, another question for anyone who may know. How many copies of any given game are typically gutted? I remember back in Nov. it was impossible to find a copy of Twilight Princess anywhere in town, but I went to EB games and they had an entire row of them. As soon as I reached out to even touch one, though, the guy behind the counter informed me that they were sold out. They had at least ten copies on the shelf! If they feel the need to put out a lot of copies to "advertise" the game, wouldn't a large poster or display do the same thing?" (I'm Confused)

This is the most retarded thing i've ever heard and the statements totally contradict each other. If the store puts out mock cases and keeps all the real ones behind the counter, how the hell are you supposed to know if they have it or not? Gamestop/EB Games in the majority is staffed by knowledgeable, caring gamers. Most treat every game as if it were new when handling. When a game is gutted the disc is taken directly from the case and put into a CLEAN SLEEVE. It is not touched again until it is the last purchasable copy of the game in the store, at which time it is removed and put back into the case. I don't see what the big deal is. All i'm hearing is a bunch of snooty gamers that whine too much
