Gamestop shenanigans sell open games as 'new'

Mar 26th 2007 11:15AM (Joystiq)
Working for Gamestop, but not speaking on behalf of Gamestop by any means, I can tell you that often times when a retailer asks you if you have a reservation, it simply means that they have no other stock for non-reserve customers. This happens quite often for big name titles (God of War?). Which is the reason for the whole reserve process. They do however have enough product to display siad game on their shelves to let you know that they do in fact provide it. The empty box does not imply a used game. The companies simply do not send us empty boxes to provide for you. If we didn't have the box out for the common gamer to see, how would you know we sold it? The disc is not sold or used in any way, it sits in a sleeve and waits for the other unopened copies to run out before being sold. Hence the questioon of "Did you reserve it?". The reserved copies are their for the people who...(wait for it)...RESERVED IT! Now if you didn't reserve a game you might be the person who winds up purchasing the very last unreserved copy in the store.
