I called AT&T today to ask about the service contracts for those looking to get an iPhone. In particular, I asked how it would work for those whom currently have AT&T and an existing contract (like myself and many others). Would we get a 2-yr. addendum to our contract? The phone rep. informed me that the 2-yr. contract was only for new subscribers to AT&T and did not affect existing customers.
The price will be the same for new customers and existing (can't avoid that $600), she said. Existing customers wishing to purchase a phone could either go through AT&T or an Apple store and they would not incur an added 2-years to their existing contract.
This has happened to me too! Several times actually. The kicker was when I was actually buying a DS game for a cousin's birthday gift. The clerk pulled the same routine and said "Don't worry, it's new, we just remove it from the case when it's the last copy". I thought, it was ok, so I said fine (even though I wasn't too happy about handing someone a gift-wrapped item that was obviously opened from before, but I digress). Going on, upon getting his gift, my cousin tells me he received the game as a gift from another relative, so I told him I would exchange it for another game of his choice. So later the next day I was off to exchange the new "opened" game for another title. When I get to the store, I get interrogated by the store lackeys because "it's an opened game". So, being the jerk I know I am, I fire their BS right back at them, "Oh, don't worry, it's new. It was just opened because it was the last copy when I bought it yesterday". Can you believe they told me no, they could not accept the change because the "computer would not accept an opened game". Now, I work w/ computers - all day long and I've never come across a station that can actually tell what anything is other than the commands that are entered by someone. In other words, it could be accepting an exchange on the Playstation 5000 for all it knows. But again, I digress, so I'm there for like 10 mins. back and forth with the moron associate, I ask to speak with a manager because this is ridiculous. I bought the game yesterday...from you, you big dummy! Your name is on the receipt as the idiot who sold it to me and now you tell me that you can't accept it because it's open! I even asked you before I bought it like that if it could be returned and you told me that within 7 days for money back. It's only the next day!
Well, the management wasn't much better, but I guess they figured that almost 20mins. of my bitching to them about their particular brand of logic was enough, so the manager said she would issue an exchange. I asked if they had the other title and of course they did, but it too was the last copy. So, I told her very politely, that I did not and will not go through this again, I want my money back since they don't have anything else I want and as it is so well written on the back of their worthless receipts. She conceded eventually and issues the refund....only after she ordered the lackey to "make sure the game wasn't used". WTF?!
Getting treated like a lying criminal, refused the rights I am given by their own store policy, given grief over their own ineptness to understand logical facts and ultimately attempted to be placed in the same quandary because "I shouldn't worry, it's new". (and believing their BS).
No thanks! I'm fortunate enough to live in a large metropolitan city where there are tons of other Gamestops, EBs, Best Buys, Circuit Citys, etc. GS isn't the only game in town and they certainly aren't the best....by a long shot!
Worst case scenario, instead of fighting the crowds, reservations limits and overall, stupid GS employees, on several occasions I've pre-ordered games directly from gamestop.com and it arrived day and date with the store release dates and I've always received any extras or bonuses that have been included with said pre-orders, and I've never gotten sh*t from any of the web-based store folks!

Just thought I'd pass this info along.
