Grand Theft Auto 3 Rage mod makes us happy
Mar 28th 2012 4:18AM (Joystiq)I disagree with "money" being their only motive in limiting the distribution of mods freely on there platform.
What mostly likely is the main issue is security for their platform. How does Sony/Microsoft single-handedly monitor mods? When a mod doesn't work as intended, how is it removed--with the original game files repairing itself in the process? How do you know when a mod is destroying your console with some malicious hidden software?
There are many more unknowns when talking about modding in general. The consoles simply aren't built to handle the consequences that come with the great power that is complete user-created content. So, it is better to just leave it be as it is... at least for this generation.
PSN Tuesday: Closure, final week of Spring Fever sale
Mar 27th 2012 8:48PM (Joystiq)To be fair, there is a reason they are purposely not doing it. At least it sure seems that way. I noticed awhile back they stopped doing it all of a sudden. Something had to have happened between PS.Blog and Joystiq.
I'm pretty sure they would, if they could. So I don't get upset with them about it.

PS Vita 1.61 adds Maps app, video recording, and other updates
Feb 21st 2012 5:36AM (Joystiq)No, he actually DID read the entire article. The article doesn't really specify what 1.60 did. The title should have read:
"PS Vita 1.60 adds Maps app, video recording and 1.61 adds performance improvements"
This way, it is clear that two updates were released--doing totally separate things.

Bethesda's Todd Howard on how games can make players 'proud'
Feb 9th 2012 4:16AM (Joystiq)No, but Daigo Umehara's parrying of the EVO tournament in the final round is.
Even today, that scenario is still brought up. And more and more "EVO moments" are being made every year.
Do not underestimate any form of competition.
