Being able to own your system rather than leasing makes many of those options possible -- or at least configurable.

Ripped blu-ray option?

I would like an option to legally get movies on a hard drive where they can be streamed over LAN. No discs to store, no internet streaming issues.

My business model suggestion for content owners:

- Distribute movies via download and disposable rip discs.

- Rent per view (not per download/rip)

- After 3 views, you own it

- Keep on your hard drive as long as you want for instant access

Fall 2003 I bought my Panasonic PT-LC5013. 50" 720P LCD RPTV. Envious of what $3000 would buy now, but the thing won't break.

Windows Media Extender - that would be a nice bullet point of differentiation with other streamers.

Wishing one of these media streamers would add a Windows Media Center Extender mode.

I'm 584286 happy, but could be 845226 more happy if I had a free t-shirt.

Cable is my ISP, so I can't get rid of Comcast entirely. I have dropped to lowest basic plan. Clear-QAM broadcast channels are better than I can get OTA. With Netflix and Windows Media Center dvr, I don't miss the cable box.

I encourage everyone to drop the premium content so cable companies focus on providing bits.
