Video: Opera 10 promises Turbo browsing using Scandinavian flat-packing knowhow

Sep 1st 2009 8:02AM (Engadget)
@Dummy0001:

Opera's tab close options are to activate the previously used (last) tab, the next tab, or the first child tab (first tab opened from current tab).

Preferences->Advanced->Tabs.

IntensaFIRE chip adds programmable / rapid fire modes to Xbox 360 controllers

Is all there is to Call of Duty who can mash a button faster? If so, that's pretty horrible game design. If not, why are people getting their panties in a bunch over this?

Xbox Live Update has arrived, everything is going to be alright

Aug 11th 2009 1:14PM (Engadget)
Got my update this morning. The in-game dash is still unusable due to its inane slowness. Why even have an in-game dash if it can't be used meaningfully in-game? Fix this already, Microsoft!

PSA: Xbox Live Update is ... live

The in-game dash is still unusably slow. Fixing this ought to be Microsoft's #1 priority, but instead they add a purchasing system for avatar fashion accessories.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 slices and dices North America this September

Jul 28th 2009 12:17PM (Joystiq)
Sigma 1 is pretty solid. Black is better in a few minor ways, but on the whole Sigma is the game I'd rather play.

I'll pick up Sigma 2 in a few months -- I really ought to finish NG2 on the 360 first.

Producer: Wesker not returning to Resident Evil (yeah, right)

Jul 26th 2009 2:04PM (Joystiq)
I'm pretty sure the split-second "ducking" (where Wesker's disappears) in that ending cut-scene is a rending flaw, just like the cut-scene with the rocket launcher majinis in 6-1.

The 360's new (and improved) Netflix experience

How about some in-game dash performance improvements? It takes forever to respond to a message, let alone send one to the player you just played with.

It really shouldn't take more than ten seconds (preferably much less) to go through the entire process from the time you hit the guide button to the time you're back playing the game (especially with a short message such as "gg").

Dyack: Industry making more games than consumers can handle

Jul 17th 2009 11:04AM (Joystiq)
I just continue to raise my standards.

In the early 80s, I'd play a terrible game for hours and hours (e.g., Space Invaders). In the late 80s, I'd give almost anything an hour or two (e.g., Fester's Quest). In the early 90s, the game had to be at least marginally enjoyable to get an hour or two of play (e.g., Streets of Rage 3). In the late 90s, I'd give a highly rated game (e.g., TLoZ:OoT) about two hours to convince me that it was worthwhile, and nothing else would get more than about 15 minutes to do so. By the early 2000s, I'd cut that down to about an hour for a "game of the year" game (e.g., Morrowind).

Nowdays, a game has to grab me right off the bat, no matter the ratings. I still put too many hours into games that are merely passable (e.g., FallOut 3), but if the game starts out shitty, I just toss it (e.g., Metal Gear Solid 4).

Resident Evil 4 coming to iPhone in July

Jul 15th 2009 1:14PM (Joystiq)
They did: Resident Evil Degeneration. It looks (and plays) pretty much the same as the game pictured in the above screenshot.

I wish Capcom would just port over Puzzle Fighter. That's a game I would buy on the iPhone.

And with the new NiGHTS... oh wait.
