Joystiq hands-on: Killzone 2 single-player campaign

Jan 9th 2009 10:51AM (Joystiq)
@ juju 187

KZ2 the only investment I got out of my PS3? Huh, well let me think about that.

I have Out of the box the cheapest fully upgradeanle blu-ray player on the market (no other console does). I have built in wi-fi (which no other console does, $100 to upgrade the 360). I have compact flash support, mini sd, and mem stick pro ports (which no other console does). I can add original ISO's. I have a fully upgradeable HD drive (which no other console does). I can play my games online for free (which Xbox can't say). I have Playstation Home which is starting to pay off big with the addition of dedicated spaces such as red bull, and EA's new space which is coming soon. Not only that, but there is unlimited potential for these space by all first and third party developers, and not just them, but other companies. Oh, and did I mention Home is only on PS3? Well it is. I have MGS4 (rated 10/10 by IGN, and only on PS3). I have Uncharted: Drakes fortune (which was rated above 9.3 by IGN, and only on PS3). I have Resistance: 2 (which was rated above 9.4 by IGN, and only on PS3). I have Socom (which is an awesome game now, play the game for yourselves people (only on PS3). I have Warhawk which is a nice jump in fun title (only for PS3). I will be getting Killzone 2 which is the best looking game on any platform if you're not a fanboy (KZ2 is only on PS3). I will be getting GOWIII which developers say look like it was taken from a piece of artwork (only on PS3). I will be getting Uncharted 2: Among Thieves which is looking better than the first game which already looked amazing (only on PS3). I will also be getting MAG which supports 256 players online (only on PS3). Oh I also got Little Big Planet whose developers just one studio of the year (only on PS3). I also will be getting Final Fantasy 13 Versus which in my opinion looks better than the normal 13 version and is the only one I wanted to play (only on PS3). Note that FFXIII is multi platform, Versus however is still exclusive. And by the way Square Enix was quoted saying they are not even worried about the 360 version at present but are taking their time developing for PS3...well now.

Well...i thought about it, and I can't seem to see your point...

Microsoft pulled Halo announcement for a stupid reason

Jul 17th 2008 12:49PM (Joystiq)

Snowblind...you said you don't know how to correct me, and clearly I
must give you credit...it is after all one of the only credible
things in your post. So now let me please extend to you the same
curiosity.

I addressed this before but I'll do it again. It is not whether you
need Home or not, I could just as easily say do you need Halo, or
Gears? After all there are many other shooters out there you could
play, right? But you still enjoy it...they are beautiful games...but
my only point is GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE. You can't even say one
thing positive about Home, from the trophy room to display trophies
in an INNOVATIVE way ( Definition of innovative as I am using it in
the text: adjective
1. ahead of the times; "the advanced teaching methods"; "had
advanced views on the subject"; (((("a forward-looking
corporation"))); "is British industry innovative enough?"...That is
to satisfy your whit, or your attempt at it I should say). also
allowing users who cannot make it to GDC, or TGS, and E3 to go there
virtually allowing developers to enter the homes of consumers. Or to
have spaces that are designed by developers themselves for users to
enjoy...that is innovation my friend but because you are acting quite
fanboyish ( Fanboy: (sometimes spelled fanboi) is a term used to
describe an individual who is devoted to a single subject in a
fanatical manner, or to a single point of view within that subject,
often to the point where it is considered an obsession. Fanboys
remain loyal to their particular obsession...that was some whit of my
own). you have not bothered to look into such things.

Next, you don't see how Blu-Ray is helping with video games...sigh.
When games like MGS4 are on duel layered Blu-Ray disks (that is 50GB)
and uses it all, and Microsoft uses DVD 9 (that is 9GB) you don't see
how that changes the scope of how games are viewed? Again my point is
proven in the Sony initiative to think a step ahead in not only
helping developers, but also to enrich the experiences of
gamers...for goodness sakes man (or woman) there are maps on Killzone
2 that wont fit on the disk format Microsoft uses. Oh but wait if
Microsoft's next console uses Blu-Ray you are sure to here a surge of
voices cry in the streets Blu_Ray has arrived!!! This is the stuff I
say needs to stop, and that is innovation my friend.

A failure rate in the 360 doesn't matter....(Fanboy (sometimes
spelled fanboi) is a term used to describe (((an individual who is
devoted to a single subject in a fanatical manner,))) or to a single
point of view within that subject, often to the point where it is
considered an obsession. Fanboys remain loyal to their particular
obsession.

I do give you credit for that comment...Sony did get FF off of
Nintendo, but where able to develop their OWN multimillion dollar
games since then.

Lastly, adding more players doesn't mean innovative...(Innovative as
I am using it in the text:((( ahead of the times))); "the advanced
teaching methods"; "had advanced views on the subject"; (((("a
forward-looking corporation"))). Where has this been done ever before
on a CONSOLE...Oh yeah 60 players on RFOM (Innovative) and please tell
me what games on Xbox support fifty people.

Did you ever think about people that bought an Xbox just before the
360 released? Microsoft stopped all support of their console and
focused on 360, if anyone enjoying Microsoft's content wanted to
continue enjoying it they had to cough out more money. All this while
millions still enjoy fresh new content on their PS2's every year. My
point? One, I am not a fanboy I simply look at truths, secondly you
should want a company to have YOUR interests in mind, not only
theirs..if leaving a loyal customer in the dust after their support
appeals to you keep on keeping on (again in the realm of subjectivity
I can't tell you what to do). You as a customer that not only pays for
games, accessories, and a good online service deserve loyalty from the
company...as well as a company that thinks ahead instead of nowhere
past two years from now. You also deserve to have a company that
offers ORIGINAL content, and fun and exciting innovation. This is not
a post to make you go get a PS3 this is merely a voice in the realm of
subjectivity. You can look up everything I am saying...go watch E3 or
go look in Websters dictionary for your mug shot...

(This post is not meant to offend or oppress any of the parties it is
addressed to. If this post has in any way offended anyone you have my
sincere apology before said offense occurred. This post is aimed at
discovering truth and leaving behind patronizing falicies ment for
fire side chat, thank you.)

Microsoft pulled Halo announcement for a stupid reason

Jul 17th 2008 12:07PM (Joystiq)
So...for all of you guy's who just gave a comment on what I said, notice giving credit where credit is due and you still fail to do it. Even more tragic (let me thank Vcize for his whit...yeah...right...)is that you missed my point entirely. My only point is that Sony is clearly offering more content and a more reliable and future proof system. You say home is not innovative...ok, tell me how you brilliantly composed that thought. It is a virtual representation of everything you do on Xbox live, it is the only thing as deep and interactive on any console...since you like all caps CONSOLE. GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT IS DUE, I am sick of the fact that Microsoft can get on stage and show games that are not exclusive look the same and are just as fun on any console and everyone explodes. FFXII has been an up and coming tittle on PS# since forever and no one mentions it...Microsoft rips the same game and everyone explodes and you have the nerve to call me a fan boy. There is a difference in stating the obvious and standing drooling over one thing totally ignoring everything else. If you want to talk big name title Microsoft revealed two of them Fable 2 and Gears of war...but for the sake of not being routine, they left Bungies announcement out. Once again Microsoft managed to show two original concepts and get everyone's praise. I do not only praise Sony, that is your opinion and in the realm of subjectivity you have the right to it, but don't think for a moment it entitles you to absolute correctness (nor do I have that privilege). I have said it many times before, to my shame not here so I will. The Sony PS3 has for about a year been a console largely based in theory, I have said elsewhere that they are very good at marketing a machine that is but a shell of what they say it is. They wanted to secure Blu-Ray first off to get the market in video and games because they knew they could change the quality and scale of video games proving their ten year initiative, and devoutness to thinking one step ahead. Now they are focusing on filling the shell with great content. This same discussion happened last generation about the consoles and people said the same things you guy's are now defending Microsoft, and where are they now? On 360...(but before you jump for joy, they did not have a choice). Did you ever think about people that bought an Xbox just before the 360 released? Microsoft stopped all support of their console and focused on 360, if anyone enjoying Microsoft's content wanted to continue enjoying it they had to cough out more money. All this while millions still enjoy fresh new content on their PS2's every year. My point? One, I am not a fanboy I simply look at truths, secondly you should want a company to have YOUR interests in mind, not only theirs..if leaving a loyal customer in the dust after their support appeals to you keep on keeping on (again in the realm of subjectivity I can't tell you what to do). Microsoft pulled Halo announcement for a stupid reason

Jul 17th 2008 10:39AM (Joystiq)
After this Sony get's o the stage to show games like God of war III (exclusive), Resistance 2 (exclusive), Little Big Planet (exclusive) Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots (Exclusive) MAG (Exclusive), Home (exclusive), Grand Turismo 5: Prologue (exclusive) Killzone 2 (exclusive). All of this on top of their other best selling platforms PS2, and PSP which are still selling strong. Then they showed and let's be honest the far better content and original IP's that fill the playstation store with the addition of the video store that launched that night. Sony is offering more content that is far more innovative on their flag ship platform PS3 than Xbox 360 while still supporting two other platforms. But wait, where was the original Xbox? Yeah that's right the sales numbers for that could not be shown because Microsoft completely abandoned it forcing consumers to buy their new machine or you're out of luck. And it is funny how the thirty-three percent failure rate of the system was not mention amongst the unimpressive numbers Microsoft mentioned like umpteen millions of consoles sold (that's because for every one person that bought a 360 four consoles were purchased due to the failure rate). Sony's failure rate you ask? A cool three percent. So not only does Sony offer better, larger content...but the machine itself is more reliable. Anyone who cannot see this IS A FANBOY, look it up in Websters dictionary the term has just been added there along with shiny prints of all your faces. Give credit where it is due...MAG with 256 players!!! Get real guy's that's amazing, 60 players in Resistance 2? INNOVATIVE. I suggest Microsoft stop stealing Playstations exclusives and get their own because with Playstation brand games like MGS4, MAG, Resistance, Drakes uncharted games are becoming to big for Microsofts machines to handle without a Blu-Ray drive...and if that happens every Microsoft console sold will bring Sony revenue...wake up, rub your weary eyes and view the shiny black finish of the Playstation Dynasty as it comes to a living room near you. I won'y say the Xbox sucks...but it is way over hyped...it can't even handle Crysis...(oh yeah that's coming to Playstation also).

Microsoft pulled Halo announcement for a stupid reason

Jul 17th 2008 10:19AM (Joystiq)
You know people really need to stop giving Microsoft free publicity...they are not paying you...(though, I would not be surprised if they were). They come into E3 boasting their systems heavy hitters: Assasins creed, (not exclusive) Bioshock, (not exclusive) Call of Duty 4, (not exclusive) and the only one on the list that is exclusive was Halo 3 (notice, gears was not there). Then they show a cheap version of an eye toy like game, "you're in the movies", then a rip off of Sing Star...Lips, then what I am going to call a Nintendo Mii port...Avatars. After absolutely nothing worth while they show Fallout 3 (not exclusive) then a total downgrade of the dashboard about the only thing I liked on the machine. Then since they can't book a company exclusively that can give them a decent game they show the world FFXIII and everyone praises them, but they forget that PS3 has had that title since day one and FFXIII versus is still exclusive, not to mention FFXIII is still a PS3 exclusive in Japan! The only innovative and good display at Microsoft's E3 was Gears of War 2.

Xbox 360 Elite and 120GB drive now official

Mar 31st 2007 6:37PM (Engadget)
I mean, really...what can you do with an Xbox 360 people? I want to connect to the internet on my PS3 I press a button. When an Xbox user wants to connect to the internet you get a twenty year project.

Everyone is talking about better games on the Xbox 360, like what!? Let me see...how many can we name, there is Halo 3, Gears of War and... oh wait, did the list just abruptly end? get real changing the color, enlarging the hard drive, and bumping the console up a nickel dose not impress me.

Hey all you Microsoft fan boy's put your ear up to the screen...you here that? yeah, that's the sound of the chatter of all the people who care about the Xbox.
