720p PS3 games downscale on older HD sets [update 1]

Let's see... PS3 should be powerful enough to do 30 fps (at least) in 1080i, right?
Then, let's see... if you run your Windows display (or Half Life 2 for that matter) resolution to 640x480 and compare that with 1368x1024 (I am using the closest 4:3 ratio numbers), it's a matter of a personal preference? Really?
