Ghostbusters on PS3 lags behind 360 version; developer explains

Jun 18th 2009 10:03AM (Joystiq)
As a consumer you really need to research before you buy.
I've been looking forward to this game for awhile, and I was planning to buy the PS3 version as it was the lead SKU.

However, the IGN review from June 10 told a different story. PS3 had worse graphics, and requires installation, yet doesn't improve load times over 360.

I bought the game on day 1, for the 360, and couldn't be happier.
Research your purchases FTW.

It still blows my mind that Ghostbusters was lead SKU on PS3 yet looks so much worse than the 360.

Heavy Weapon co-op is a blast

Jan 18th 2007 2:01PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I made it to 17 minutes with a group of people lastnight. Holy smokes does it get intense, there is so much going on the screen it becomes impossible to figure out what exactly is going to kill you. Luckily the plasma shots are bright pink and you can pick them out because I consider those to be the biggest threat, besides the Atomic bomb dropping planes.

Batttlestations: Midway demo ready for battle

I just finished playing a game. The control system is weird, at first I was trying to take control of the planes and do the bomb runs myself.. bad idea. Instead use the x button to command the squadron to do what you want, then sit back and watch the show. You can drive the planes/boats/subs if you want, but the AI does a better job than me.

Xbox 360 IPTV in action

Jan 8th 2007 3:10PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I'm excited at the potential, but I don't think my cable company will support it. I have no need for a landline in my home. I use cell, voip, and cable for my telecom needs. From my speculation, I would see this MicrosoftTV becoming a bundle with DSL service providers. I will never put a POTS line back in my house unless DSL somehow becomes much better than cable for internet access, so unless cable decides to support it, I guess I'm screwed.

Getting started with your new Mac

Dec 28th 2006 1:05PM (TUAW.com)
Good Tips. I am a recent switcher to a MAC. I must say, I'm loving it so far. However, there is one really annoying thing that I'm hoping can be changed. I figured this site could maybe help me, and hopefully let others know also. So.. here's the deal. I use Firefox RSS live bookmarks for most sites. I love how this works perfectly in windows. For example, a headline would read "Boot XP from external flash drive without BootC..." HOWEVER, Macs seem to show the beginning...then last of the headline. So on a Mac the same headline displays as "Boot XP from extern...out BootCamp"
Can I make my mac display the headlines like Windows? Please Help!

COD3 is best on 360, in more ways than one

Nov 16th 2006 2:38PM (Joystiq Xbox)
I find it hilarious that PS3 CoD3 has framerate issues. Way to go Cell and RSX. Yeah yeah, 1st gen game, blah blah, I don't care. It runs PERFECTLY SILKY SMOOTH on 360, and the opening battle is the most intense firefight I've ever experienced. I definitely noticed how smooth it played with all the crazy effects and explosions on screen, and I agree that gamespot rated the 360 version higher at 8.8 vs PS3s 8.2.

PS3 not all that upscale after all

Nov 16th 2006 2:16PM (Joystiq Xbox)
And, fyi, no other media outlets or individuals have reported the same problems; so, keep your panties on.

#13 - you are wrong, Dailytech just picked up on this, it is also on IGN, and Insomniac (developer of Resistance of Man) says it isn't their issue, it is the PS3.

PS3 not all that upscale after all

Nov 16th 2006 8:35AM (Joystiq Xbox)
I have an older TV like this. It's even a Sony. I want to get rid of the big brute soon (51" Rear Projo HDTV). It accepts 720p signals, but downsamples to 480p and looks like poo (the TV does this). The great thing is that the 360 can uprez all the 720p games to 1080i and it looks fantastic on my display. There is a SERIOUS visual difference between 720p upped to 1080i (good) and 720p downed to 480p (bad). Thank you 360, you saved my Sony TV from looking like crap. I know if I had been on the PS3 wagon, I'd be pissed about these news. Not everyone has a brand new LCD HDTV, my HDTV is from 2003 and it would have this issue with a PS3.

Xbox 360 fall update details revealed: 1080p, auto-download, WMV playback and more

Oct 30th 2006 2:45PM (Engadget)
WMV videos over Windows Media Connect is a good thing. Of course DivX/Xvid would have been perfect, but come on, I don't ever see Microsoft supporting those codecs. Now I'll just have to convert them to WMV, no big deal and much better than the old Media Center only for videos. If I could get my hands on a Network Attached Storage box with USB, then technically I could have that as an external 360 video drive, and I wouldn't even need a media center desktop anymore. Just use my laptop to convert the files, throw them on the NAS, and away we go!
