The ipod brand is popular indeed, however there are actually many media players that are more popular than many ipods. For example the psp is the second most popular media player (seriously) and there are in fact a lot more psps in use than there are ipodtouchs. If you have a hard time understanding Apple's use of the term ipod see shuffle, nano, classic and all the prior variants. they are in no way equals in the way a psp is to a psp.

As for a camera in the next touch, the iphone took pictures before it could handle video and during that time no camera on the ipodtouch, so yes they may continue to intentionally stunt the ipodtouch in hopes of getting people to pay for play, also known as move up to their iphone (which costs thousands to use though you do not like to include usage so lets use the saying it costs tens of hundreds of dollars).

As for that pedestal you put apple on, I would not. They are not the end all or be all of anything beyond marketing themselves (and even that is waning for them).

the ipod touch is not symbolic of the ipod brand, in fact the ipod touch is not a very popular ipod. like it or not, the psp is a very popular media player and a tremendously popular game system and for good reason, the device is feature packed

whereas the iphone literally costs thousands of dollars to use and its only value proposition here is simplistic gaming + mobile phone and the ipod touch is not a mobile phone so it's just simplistic gaming and it doesn't have things the iphone has such as a camera so it can not play as many apps
