I think the product was more of a debacle than the pricing issues.

3d is like Cocaine. Highly addictive, hard to stop, and too much makes you feel like shit.

Wasn't there a day in age when DLC maps went free?

It was always a boon for the online communities an old map pack would go free and bring back a number of players and a new one would be released bringing back a different group of players.
