Castlevania movie drops whip for sword

Jul 15th 2008 3:11AM (Joystiq)
Fuck you Paul W S Anderson!!! This movie will suck balls, just like every single movie you've ever made! I will never pay to see this movie if this is indeed true. Hasn't he done enough harm to video game film adaptations with Resident Evil? Apparently not.

Wow. That was fucking retarded. I'd rather watch GT's review again than that 'better' review.

Wait, isn't Bioware working on a trilogy for Bioshock? How will they be able to devote enough time to both projects without dropping the ball on either?

Postal designer speaks out on Manhunt 2 bans

Jun 23rd 2007 2:32PM (Joystiq)
karmaghost: I agree- as much as I love games, Manhunt 2 does not do anything worthwhile enough to be defended on its merits and should not have been made. Rockstar is simply using it to try to deflect some of the controversy surrouding it's flagship title GTA, and are trying to cash in by shocking the public with such a violent game.

If this game had any artistic merit at all, or if it had any original gameplay elements, then I might be willing to defend it for that. But it doesn't have any redeeming qualities whatsoever and is intended to become one of the most violent and controversial games in history, so for that it deserves to be banned.

In the end, every game will somehow end up in the wrong hands: perhaps those of a child, perhaps those of a deviant. Violent games are different from violent films in that films require you to passively watch the violence or gore unfold in front of you, whereas in games you are taking an active role in causing the violence and participating in it. Games like Halo or F.E.A.R. aren't the same because the violence isn't meant to shock you- in Manhunt 2 it's meant to. There's a big difference there that I think people are missing.

If Rockstar simply wants to cash in on this hyper-violence the they deserve the rating they got from the ESRB and the game deserves to be banned. Period.

Marathon: Durandal runs away from German ratings board

FINALLY!!!

Marathon arrives on XBLA! That is some sweet news. I wonder if there'll be online multiplayer... Doom had it, Marathon might as well. I also wonder if they'll update the graphics.
