Joyswag: Risk: Black Ops board game & Risk: Factions XBLA codes

Jun 23rd 2010 11:59AM (Joystiq)
Risk: Black Ops is beautiful and I promise to care for it, always.

I MEAN IT. :)

Joyswag: Splinter Cell: Conviction and assorted goodies

Definitely the Sticky Cam, though that just assumes the Night Goggles are surgically attached.

Next wave of EA game server shutdowns detailed

Feb 17th 2010 4:52PM (Joystiq)
This is fine for sports games, which are updated annually, but it has me worried about the current run of EA games that rely in logging in to servers to be playable first-person games. Wasn't there an outage earlier this week where Dragon Age: Origins players were blocked from being able to load the game? I'd hate for EA's need to control their servers make the single-player games I've purchased become unplayable in a few years.

Zune 'Phone' devices listed in latest software update

Jan 26th 2010 11:35AM (Engadget)
I really suspect the end result won't be a "Zune Phone" as much as a "Phone with Zune." Creating a software solution for Zune on other devices seems to be more familiar territory for Microsoft, and allows them to play to the strength of having Zune as a service within the now infamous three-screen ideology.

And I don't know anything about programming, but the three lines for Zune devices and another three for Zune phones may be misleading as an indicator of devices, since there are four form factors that the Zune software supports -- 30GB, 4/8GB, 80/120GB, and the current HDs Or maybe pointing that out just supports the idea that it could be an app versus a separate device.

..Then again, maybe MS is finally taking a lesson from Apple and attempting to control the whole platform?

Audiosurf, PGR and other games added to Zune HD with latest update

This is really great, but unfortunately I'm still getting the SYNC Error (C1010007) -- an error that has blocked users from syncing video and video podcasts, and it's now blocked me from syncing more than one game. I'd love it if you guys could explore how widespread this error is. The Zune forum is full of gripes, but little concrete information.

Black Rock dev says racing genre is 'dying out,' Split/Second to give a 'kick start'

Apr 22nd 2009 11:06AM (Joystiq)
This guy is nuts. I'm still playing Grid -- a great straight-up racer. Codemaster's idea of turning away from car customization to managing the look and driving style of a racing team was a brilliant idea.

Microsoft reports $100M decline in Zune revenue

Jan 23rd 2009 2:47PM (Engadget)
Why do online news outlets continue to show only the old Zune 30GB hardware as illustrations in sales stories? I doubt they'd do the same with iPod products -- illustrate product stories with images of a model released two years ago. At the very least, it's subtle editorializing, but it also seems misleading and dishonest to readers about what Zune offers, let alone what's available in the retail market.

Bioshock Tuesday: win an Xbox 360 and a copy of Bioshock

Aug 26th 2007 8:50PM (Engadget)
Well, as I don't have a 360, I'm still loving Guild Wars on the PC. :)

DIYer hacks iBook into hardbound server

I think their volume of Shakespeare is out of date; Oxford is on the Second Edition. (And why go with the compact version anyway? Is Shakespeare better smaller?)

iPhone to feature eight hours of talk, new glass surface

Jun 18th 2007 9:56AM (Engadget)
This whole iPhone thing is pretty, but it sounds like Apple risks 'jumping the shark' too far away from the iPod. I do think it would be interesting to see some real data from Apple on their iPod and its earbuds on how it compares in sound output to its closest competitors.
