The Queue: More WoW

Feb 1st 2010 2:41PM (WoW)
It won't let you queue a random if it's trying to assign you to a higher level dungeon that your friend is qualified for. You can still use the tool, though. Just select "specific dungeon" and check the ones it allows you to. You'll notice that the dungeons above your friend's level will not be selectable. The only downside is you don't get the extra completion badge bonus (so you probably don't get the care package for lower level dungeons).

This is a factor of level, not of RaF.

Paul Sams: "We will not pull the rug out from under them"

Jan 22nd 2010 12:41PM (WoW)
My only concern is that the "release it when it's ready" philosophy has already begun to seep into the World of Warcraft Magazine. Over time, I have come to accept that their games have no fixed release date. I don't like it, but they've rarely disappointed, so I accept it.

I don't know if I can do the same with my magazine subscription. If, at the end of ayear, they ask me to renew and I've only received two of the four promised issues, I will not be eager to hand over another $40.

Around Azeroth: I hunger!

Same thing happened to me, with a slight variation. We were stacked up at the door and one of the last few people to die got firebombed by a snobold.

Funny thing, those fires don't always disappear when the encounter ends. Everyone zones in, everyone burns alive.

No exploit, just good raid practice. If it looks like a wipe, you head to the door so that healers can be DI'd and people can be ressed quickly. True, not necessary on TotGC because the corpse run is so short, but still, good habits are hard to break.

The pros and cons of autolooting

Apr 24th 2009 5:25PM (WoW)
@The Claw:

I agree that my first badge of Conquest was not autolooted, nor was anyone else's in our first guild 25-man Leviathan kill. I might be wrong, but I assumed it was tied to the achievement of actually receiving your first Conquest badge, which was quite a bit of guild spam for a minute or two.

After that, the remainder of the badges autolooted. It was a good thing for the sole engineer in the group who de-engineered Flame Leviathan for 18 Saronite bars, and five eternal earths.

More Druid changes on the 3.1 PTR, part 2

The least time they tried to introduce a massive nerf on lifebloom because of the pvp community it caused a massive uproar. What the heck are they doing to trees? Let's not overlook the boost in holy priest circle of healing, but no such boost to wild regrowth.

Happy Loot-idays from WoW Insider: Day one

I forgot to disable auto-loot, so by submitting this post I have accidentally won all of the loot cards. Sorry all. I will also immediately log off and leave the instance to add insult to injury.

Breakfast Topic: Most annoying Northrend Mob

YES! Not only do they knock you back instantly into a crowded room, but each time they do it takes 30% health AND mana. They're not marked elite, but it took another leve l80 friend and I 3 wipes until we figured out how to kill a group of three effectively.

Spiritual Guidance: The sweet 40 - 60

Sep 29th 2008 2:59PM (WoW)
I've run lv 68-70 dungeons with shadow priests when there were no other options, and it was an excruciatingly painful experience. Shadow priests can heal, but not for very long or for very large amounts at a pop. (Unless, of course, your shadow priests regularly runs Kara and above and has a full-on purple heaing set to break out as needed. This late in the game, that's very possible.)

The biggest problem I have found is that shadow priests rarely can control their need to DPS even on boss battles. Our shadow priest unhappily announced "out of mana!" about 30 seconds into each boss battle.

I'd rather stick a fork in my eye than bring a shadow priest into a heroic as the main healer. However, as a healer in a heroic dungeon, SP's are your best friend.

WoW Insider Interview: Blizzard speaks about Authenticator security

Sep 18th 2008 10:47AM (WoW)
Well said. It's hardly irresponsible to be reading forums and have a key logger launch and install silently due to an Adobe Flash flaw, even when you don't click on anything. This is what happened recently. All HTML links in the forums were disabled for days because of how invasive and shocking the flaw was.

I know it's popular to call everyone else stupid, but Guapa is right. No matter how smart you think you are, hackers will always be smarter, if only for a few seconds until the flaws are patched. And a few seconds are all they need.

Personally, I'd rather pay $6 to protect a three-year investment of time.
