@oxfordfishsalon Yes, it is for very specific hardware. The AP2.5 checks will be retroactively applied to all games. Xbox 360s with early Hitachi DVD drives, as well as all Samsung drives are incompatible with AP2.5 checks. You can check relatively easily what brand drive you have by following these instructions: http://www.xblog-360.com/forum/showthread.php?t=564 (This is of course unofficial.)

I grabbed this last week. It's an excellent read, and well worth the $2. It's got some neat video of "Two Robots, One Wrench" that nicely shows how Valve wraps up concepts together to make a game.

This is mentioned in "The Final Hours of Portal 2" ( http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/the-final-hours-of-portal-2/id432031492?mt=8 ) along with a lot of other interesting back story on Portal 2 development. Well worth the $2 if you've got an iPad, and like Portal.

@Spartan117458 I usually play on a 26" 1920x1200 monitor, from about 1.5 - 2 feet away. Reach is not exactly pretty. But either way, I'm just hoping this new engine kicks ass, and is smooth. I'll still take a solid 720p60 over choppy 1080p for sure.

"support 1080p resolutions" as in 720p scaled, right? That's what Reach does.

I long for the day when games move beyond the everything-is-shiny look. The detailed normals pack makes it seem 100 times worse...

@greyseal I noticed this too and was confused. So far, I've just played the first level (which I beat on my first try -- wasn't expecting that), but was really kind of bored... I just gave up on the second level to go do something else. Does it pick up after that?
