The Bourne Conspiracy to conspire on 360

Pass... the sh*tty graphics are inexcusable on either system.

Hamilton, Ontario looks at banning new drive-through windows

Jan 2nd 2007 9:41AM (Autoblog Green)
I live in Hamilton - and while I'd like to see drive-thru windows eliminated (primarily because there may be one going in behind my lot in a new subdivision), we have other issues contributing even more to unnecessary vehicle emissions. Throughout the year, just about every major road in Hamilton is undergoing major (and I mean major) construction. It's gotten to the point where it's become thoroughly ridiculous - almost as if there's some sort of ongoing shady deal between the city and paving contractors. While this may sound paranoid to somebody not living in Hamilton, know that there is a long history of corruption and collusion between city hall and contractors in this city.

Call of Duty 3 cheaper to import

Hey #35, 30, 27, 12 - who the f*ck are you guys? Some sort of self-appointed content contingent? If you don't want to read it, then scroll on or click elsewhere - I'd rather run into the occasional story I thought was lame than have to read through your obnoxious misplaced outrage every third article.

Podcast listeners: move the show to Thursday?

Nov 6th 2006 9:15AM (Engadget)
No!!!! I listen to the Podcast every Wednesday in the car while I run errands while my little guy is in his toddler art class... you'd be destroying a time-honored tradition for me!

The color of next-gen gaming is brown

Oct 23rd 2006 2:10PM (Joystiq)
Um, this is an absolutely ridiculous assertion... by averaging all of the pixels, of course you're going to get something neutral/brown. Try mixing up a bunch of primary colored paints and see what you get: yep, brown. In order to arrive at a down-sampled primary or bright color, the screenshot in question would require an overwhelming percentage of a given primary/bright color and would therefor lack anything akin to realism.

Looks like 'author Nick' needs to educate himself with regards to both color and resampling - in fact, I challenge anyone to come up with a single example of a down-sampled screenshot of any game that doesn't end up something like these when reduced to a single pixel. If it comes out bright and happy I guarantee the source if super-saturated and lacks much depth or contrast.

Sorry, but like the kids like to say, author Nick has been 'pwned'. There is zero credibility in this assertion whatsoever.

Engadget HD giveaways: win a Samsung HL-S5679W DLP with LED backlight

Digital Cable - although I find the artefacts due to compression more than a little annoying. Can't wait to play 360 with my kids on this thing, though!

Dorky PSM3 editors get real, live, working PS3 to play with

Oct 3rd 2006 12:31AM (Engadget)
Actually, my computer boots up in about 25 seconds. My 360 boots near-instantly, games fast enough not to notice.

Microsoft offering free repairs for all 2005 Xbox 360s

Sep 22nd 2006 8:57AM (Engadget)
Considering that I myself have gone through 3 separate incidents of the '3-red-lights-of-death' (a launch unit DOA, the second lasted a full 7 months before Dead Rising killed it, the third was DOA, the fourth is still alive for now), it's about time MS admitted that there's something fundamentally flawed about the 360 architecture. There's simply no way the failure rate is as low as they're telling us it is. The consensus in the 360 gaming community seems to be 'enjoy it while you can, because you WILL see those 3 red lights eventually'. It's sad that even the biggest supporters of the 360 platform have had no choice but to accept their eventual f*cking in the ass by Microsoft.

The Alienware Area-51 7500 lands with Core 2 Duo and new chassis

Jul 28th 2006 11:21AM (Engadget)
Are you kidding me? That chassis looks absolutely ridiculous... who did they get to design this thing, Hasbro? Talk about a step in the wrong direction.

Intel Xeon to power new Mac Pros?

Jul 12th 2006 9:46AM (Engadget)
NNTPgrip: whatever. They're called PRO macs for a reason. In the hands of a professional, a top-of-the-line Mac will pay for itself pretty quickly.
