Review: Smallville - Idol

Nov 14th 2009 1:58AM (AOL TV)
Where are they "black"? I'm pretty sure they are aliens in the comics/cartoons. I only recall their appearance in the old Super Friends cartoon and to me they looked more like Asian vulcans.

How many other liberties has Smallville made that changed the way characters appear? I'm pretty sure your "wave of controversy" won't make it too far.

Stateside PS3 sales up 300% following Slim introduction

Sep 13th 2009 10:45AM (Engadget)
I love it when marketing guys always put their spin on things based on statistics. Yes 300% is a big number but what is it based on and how long will the bump last. Were people waiting for a price drop to buy, do they already own one of the other systems available.

And the OTX survey is kinda useless too. It's based on what people intend to buy in the future. There are some multiplatform games listed but separately on the list of 10. 3 of the 5 listed for Sony are released in 2010. Another on the list of 10 is the upcoming Mario Wii game that doesn't even have a release.

It should have been stated simply as this..."We saw a significant uptick in sales to to pent up demand at a specific price barrier that we finally broke."

I am happy for Sony's successful change with the PS3 slim and am definitely looking forward to Uncharted 2, but just annoyed when I see marketing and advertising stretch the facts just a little too far (not just video games but everywhere).

Count me in. Almost bought one this week.

Sony Ericsson video shows two new handset renderings

I see one new phone with a sliding mechanism similar to the Nokia N95. Screen slides to reveal more functions.

It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: The Gang Gets Held Hostage

Sep 21st 2007 2:14AM (AOL TV)
You wrote that entire review without one mention of Die Hard. Frank was dressed like Bruce Willis, the scene crawling in the vents with the zippo, and then the gun taped to the back for the end scene. I thought that was hysterical.

PS3 price drop causes a 2800% jump in sales at Amazon.com

Jul 10th 2007 7:25PM (Joystiq Playstation)
I don't think anyone else here spelled it out. The PS3 did not jump 2800% in sales but in sales "rank". Still a positive reaction to the price drop but maybe not as big as it may be perceived. Just thought I would point that out for clarification.

I think the price drop is a great idea but I don't remember running out to the stores at release to pick up a PS3 when they had them available for $499 for the 20GB.

I'm still strongly considering picking one up as a BluRay player though. I just have to convince the wife that its a good idea. Wish me luck.

Blockbuster chooses Blu-ray: is the war over?

Jun 17th 2007 8:53PM (Engadget)
I've got the HD DVD add on for Xbox360. It was a great opportunity for me to get into HD and I've been renting movies online through Blockbuster. As soon as Blu-Ray players become more affordable I'm not opposed to the idea of having both. Since Sony owns a large catalog of movie titles and some upcoming movies like SpiderMan 3 that will surely be on BluRay I want to get one. If BluRay did fail it would probably mean that any movie Sony owns would not come out on HD DVD.

As I see it there are only 2 outcomes of the HD format war.
1) Both formats coexist as fully functional dual format players become available and affordable. (The current LG player is not fully HDDVD compatible with the interactive features.)
2) BluRay wins, only due to the fact that Sony controls such a massive library of movies and Toshiba does not own any content.

With all that being said, to this point I have thoroughly enjoyed my HD DVD ownership and this announcement will probably not have any affect on my blockbuster renting since I will still be able to rent them online.

The Shield: Exiled

May 15th 2007 11:57PM (AOL TV)
I think Hernan is dead and Vic was the one who compromised him unintentionally. He left his "throw away" phone in interogation. The guy who used it could have easily looked at the call history.

Rumor: Guitar issues with Xbox 360 Guitar Hero II

Apr 3rd 2007 11:47PM (Joystiq)
There are two different model numbers on the guitars. The one I got with the game has the pedal port near the controller cable is model #95055. The extra guitar I bought has the pedal port near the headset port is model #95065. SO far we haven't had any issues with either one but I'm definitely going to pay attention to this. Hopefully I'm in the clear.

It's official: Xbox 360 Elite with HDMI & 120GB HDD

Mar 28th 2007 12:25AM (Joystiq Xbox)
Pretty freakin' sweet!

I am really disappointed with the cost of the 120gb drive separate though. If I add this to my existing 360 that will make it $580 !!! At least I have a choice to include it but from that perspective it makes my "cheaper" console not that cheap.

I'll probably hold out on this...at least a little while.
